I agree.

I remember a story in 2001 about Auburn frat boys and racist costumes.

Delta sigs, I knew a few. there is far worse that goes on than a few kids showing up to a fraternity Halloween party in black face

A school with 50,000+ students a hop, skip, and jump away from one of the largest cities in the country, in the second largest state in the country, or a school with 25,000 students in the middle of nowhere Alabama, having to recruit a much smaller state against the most powerful football program in all of college football today.
I guess it's better than coaching in the murder capital of the US

I figured as much. The environment has to be conducent for stuff like that for a group to feel comfortable doing it. But I'll let it alone before someone gets mad.

I meant at other places and the country, not just auburn

If things go to hell go at A&M this season he's going to take the bulk of the blame for not being able to control his star athlete.

Auburn gives as good as it gets. I don't know if the same will be said once the dust settles in College Station
But Auburn fire its National-Championship-Winning head coach two years later. There is no coaching job that is less forgiving and, sadly, no job that is MORE forgiving than A&M, to a fault.

Auburn fired it's coach after repeated Top-10 recruiting classes, million dollar coaching salaries, world class facilities, ect, ect, all produced the worst team in school history. And that's not just hyperbole, 2012 Auburn is statistically the worst team in school history
Chizik going from sugar to shite in two years is what led to his downfall

quote:I imagine that may be exactly why some HC's may have frown upon the AU HC position. It's kinda whacked to fire a HC that's only two yrs removed from an undefeated BCSNC season. Some coaches may have also had reservations about working for an AD that would make that kind of decision.

In the long run, the former AU coaches are being paid handsomely, and the current staff looks pretty solid thus far.

That is quite an imagination you have.

I'd think that would make Au an attractive place to work.

I thought we hired the 2010 national championship head caoch. Or did the mantra that malzhan was the real coach of that team die and no one told me?

UT laughs at this. Make no bones about it, UT is the UA of Texas. A&M is a solid school and program, just like Auburn - there just happens to be a more historic program sharing the state. Not a bad position to be in.

I take issue with the "more historic" thing and regarding the fricking longhorns. Their historical hayday was in the 1960-70s. Their history is demonstrably dependent on A&M sucking. Look at what happened at A&M every time the fricking longhorns have success. It's to the point where conspiracy theories are not so far fetched. Now they have no more control over our success. We have effectively destroyed all of their built-in advantages, save one or two that will shortly be remedied.
Regardless, how about this:
At Texas A&M, Sumlin is the ONLY SEC school in a state with the second largest population in the U.S. and with the most blue chip talent.
