He is a hall of fame coach. It's the portal era of baseball. As an LSU I even know O'Sullivan is still one of the best in the business. You are not going to be good every year anymore in college baseball

Aside from that, I do think O'Sullivan needs a shorter leash given his lashing out last year and the offseason issues. There's no question that his time away affected the bullpen's development.
He won us a Natty. He has taken us to the CWS 9 fricking times. He has had us in the finals 3 fricking times.
We also couldn't get out of the Regionals for 3 straight years (4 if you count Covid year) and then followed it up with a CWS Runner-up and one catch away from another natty.
LSU just missed the tournament entirely after winning it all. I don't see them clamoring for firing their coach.

While i do think he's maybe underperformed with the wealth of talent he's assembled year after year for a long time now....he's still assembled an elite ball club almost every season. Winning championships is very hard to do, and he's one of only a handful of active coaches who have done that. Can't do much better than him and you can certainly do much, much worse.
He's an a-hole, a lot of coaches are, but he's also really good at his job.

So who was O’Sullivan’s current wife having the affair with that led to the murder suicide?
I think a lot of people assume it was O’Sullivan because they got married 16 months later.

It was a fricked up deal. Dude sent a text to Sully's now wife, his ex-wife, saying she should have put her family first, then shot both their sons and set the house on fire, then shot himself. Their divorce was pending at the time.
Also, in a strange twist, the guy's brother was already serving a 40 year prison sentence for stabbing and killing his ex-wife's boyfriend just weeks after their divorce was finalized.
The articles that came out at the time of the murder show that O'Sullivan was friends with the family, and given the timeline, people have drawn the assumption that her relationship with Sully led to the divorce although I don't think any of that has ever been confirmed publicly. The murders happened while the divorce was ongoing. Sully married her over a year later.
