How did you guys look in the trenches?

You should be able to get to Keelon a couple times shooting gaps but getting him down is another story.

I have no expectation of a win. I'll be happy if they keep it around the spread of 10.5 14 wouldn't be awful.

The offense is improved, but we don't know by how much. We will after 'Bama. We know very little about the defense. They played without both starting corners - and stayed very soft on the edges because of it.

Its very much a measuring stick game for Kentucky. All we know after Youngstown State is "they're better". By a little or a lot is tough to say.

One thing I can say. Stein was a definite upgrade from Stoops. No doubt in my mind.

Im glad you guys feel better about your coach. I really hope Kentucky plays well and gives us a good game because I want to see if our run game is legit or not.

It looks like it has a chance to be.

Aggravating that we can’t get the Keeneland races as an option. Last time we played there we missed it by a week.

I thought we did well for the most part. Obviously, our defensive poster got ripped by Brungard. Our offensive? We're fine. There's also the elephant in the room that says that us rushing only 3 or 4 is a bad idea... We'll we were able to get away with it that game. We won't next.

The discussion at this point on the defense is were they just keeping it vanilla or are they legitimately a weakness? Could be interesting if Afari plays as well this week. And if we get a couple of the CBs back that were out.

As for OP, the 10 point spread is probably about right given what we saw. The offense looked good, Minchey was solid. We played a lot of 2s and 3s once we got up, so guys like CJ Baxter (RB) were limited in reps but looked good when they were in.

The long and short of it is that this week will be a better litmus test of where we're at and I'm genuinely not sure just yet.

I think Kentucky screwed the pooch by firing Stoops.

Everything on defense seemed very vanilla. I can't recall any rushes over 4 dudes. Not saying that we're gonna win either. Just expect a major pushback. Well, at least, I hope.

Any, not many.

Its what always drove me nuts about the Stoops / White method. Frankly - what drives me nuts about the modern 3-4.

They had five wide formations back in the day as well, against the 4-3. So team would go dime ... one LB, six DBs. And even then ? A four man rush was considered vanilla. The minimum. And not good enough to get adequate pressure without an extremely good front four.

So now ? We rush three. Or four, with an LB not as big as an old school DE. Some day, some genius is going to get an idea. He'll put four down lineman on the field at all times. With the outside two bigger than today's inside linebacker. They'll call 'em ... I dunno', maybe a defensive end or something.

Excited to host an historic program like Bama.

Stein in known for not showing his hand at Oregon with play calling. So, I honestly believe the bag is super deep to reach into for Bama.

The two starting CB”s were rested for this week, and hopefully they are 100%.

I do expect a competitive game. We have all of the tools in place to compete in Conference. On paper it may be Bama”s advantage a bit, but that’s why you line it up.

Travel safe and enjoy your time in Lexington.
