sweet. If Kentucky gets this one it legitimizes my claim on 1909, 1964, 1965 and 1977 for Arkansas.

Still waiting on the NCAA to do their job for the 2010 title.

Why are SEC teams becoming obsessed with adding to their "tradition"?

For UK, for a long time the administration didn't give a shite about football. It's not about "adding" to it. It's about finally recognizing some of it. Another example would be the pictures of all of UK's historical All-Americans and All-SEC players that you rarely heard about. Or adding the statue (that'll be unveiled in September) of the four UK players that integrated the SEC to the new facility.

UK is apparently dammed if they do and damned if they don't. People bitch when UK doesn't try to improve their program and now people are bitching when they do.

Doubt it but even if we do we'll at least spring for a legit duplicate made of Waterford Crystal. And look, I'm part Cat (a border child who spent summers in Kentucky and honors my Mammaw and other family and cheers UK when it doesn't conflict), they will always own part of my heart. I WANT then to do well and think they ought to at least spring for a good trophy.

That said, that trophy looks like they picked it up at the mall at one of those old Crystal Visions type places.

The AP has named their trophy after him since 1983.

Most people don't actually know that (even Bama fans).
It's good that Auburn has Bear Bryant awards in their football complex.

You can't just claim a year if you didn't even get a selection in the records book. Literally no one does that.

What's the big deal? This isn't the first SEC team to do this.

The fact that some SEC teams played more conference games than others shows how frickin old this all is

They all played a standard schedule. Some teams would schedule each other as non-conference games because they were convenient for travel and familiar.

Here's a person who is clueless. NCAA doesn't award football championships in Div 1. They're all pissing contests judged by people who have never peed.
