And totally appropriate given the game is at home against Arkansas.

quote:

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Since the unfortunate news of record-setting University of Kentucky quarterback Jared Lorenzen's death, the Big Blue Nation has been looking for formal ways to remember the UK Athletics Hall of Famer's life and the excitement he brought to the Commonwealth.

Now the Oct. 12 Kentucky Football game vs. Arkansas in Kroger Field has been designated Jared Lorenzen Day.

It is fitting that the opponent will be Arkansas, the same foe for one of Lorenzen's most memorable performances during the 2003 season. With the Wildcats trailing in the second half, Lorenzen noticed some departing fans and yelled into the stands that they were going to miss "a hell of a game." He proved prophetic, as the Cats and Razorbacks tied an NCAA record by playing seven overtimes.

RIP, big guy.

I will order two pizzas to my living room window to honor him on this day.

Long story short Coach Guy Morris put Jared on a diet so he had pizzas snuck in through his dorm window.

Kudos to UK for doing this. Seems like theyre getting better in some regards about not being tone deaf to the fans.

Pretty cool to see, especially with it being against Arkansas.

His high school is painting the 22 yard lines blue in his honor.

Almost everybody around the conference would watch UK football just to see a man his size play qb. Those were good times. He was a UK legend and a SEC legend.

Glad to see this, and appropriate against Arky.

That game was exciting and miserable all at the same time, which of course included the rain and the 12:30 ending.

I first saw Jared Lorenzen at the Beach Ball Classic in Myrtle Beach when he played basketball at Highlands. I loved him when he was at UK and followed his weight loss journey on YouTube. It's still almost surreal that he's gone.

When did he pass? I hadn't heard. Glad to see they're honoring him. He was a hell of a player!

I'm told he could dunk in high school. I never saw it so I'm not sure I believe it but he was freakishly athletic for his size.

that was a heck of a game... and that fat dude could ball. I am not making fun of him at all with that comment, as I fit the bill as well.

I am attempting to do something about it. It is a hard fight. loved watching him
