13 of the leagues 16 being in the top 50 is crazy.

While I think Florida is really good, I'm surprised they are ranked as high as they are due to a little bad luck with opponent strength. I think the fact that they've been dominating teams has helped, but I think they'd drop a good bit with just one "bad" loss.
True, and I don't want people thinking I'm trying to imply Florida "sucks" - just that we have no idea how good they are, through no fault of theirs.
Just like football, sometimes OOC scheduling (because of how far ahead you have to do it) can be a crap shoot. Alabama's game against Wisconsin this year was scheduled in 2019; Wisconsin was coming off of a decent year and a huge bowl win, and would follow up 2019 with a 10-win season and a 1-point loss to Samford in the Rose Bowl as the B1G runner-up.
Of course, we all know this year they weren't terribly impressive (5-7).
I'm sure Florida scheduled some games (Florida State, Wake Forest, and Virginia) that were all solid-to-great games when originally scheduled. Their next game is against ASU, who is in a somewhat similar boat - they do have a loss (to Gonzaga though) and have beaten everyone else on their schedule (though with a couple of close games, unlike Florida). So they may or may not be a decent gauge of strength for Florida.

Going .500 in conference play is going to be a major accomplishment
Going 8-10 should get you in the tournament this year, the SEC is absolutely brutal. #1 conference BY FAR by anyone who does conference rankings out there

We didn't lose to North Florida, honestly didn't even know that school existed.

You lost to everyone last year, so I figured you might be familiar

You lost the right to that when you lost to North Florida.
Thanks for Josh Gray, he practically won us the Kansas game, how is Jordan Butler doing?

You tell me, you seen more invested in this than I am.
Get a final four and you can discuss “rights”, how about that? Have a good one

The 2024-2025 SEC basketball league is being hailed as one of the most competitive in college basketball history, according to computer metrics like KenPom, NET rankings, and strength of schedule. The conference features an unusually deep group of teams, with multiple top-25 ranked squads, several projected to make deep NCAA Tournament runs. The SEC has long been strong in football, but recent years have seen its basketball programs rapidly rise in prominence, with powerhouses like Alabama, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Arkansas, alongside programs like Auburn and Mississippi State gaining national attention.
In terms of metrics, the SEC’s strength this season is reflected in its high efficiency ratings, with a large number of teams boasting top-50 rankings in KenPom, especially in adjusted offense and defense. The league’s depth is another defining feature; not only are teams at the top strong, but middle-tier teams are also competitive, which elevates the conference's overall performance.
That said, whether the 2024-2025 SEC is the "best" league in history is still debatable. Historically, conferences like the 2018-2019 ACC, which featured powerhouses like Duke, Virginia, and North Carolina, were similarly dominant. The 2024-2025 SEC’s success is significant, but comparing it to past years with dominant teams like 2009 Big East or 2015 ACC, which boasted a larger number of elite programs, suggests that the SEC, while extremely strong, still has to prove its sustained dominance at the highest level.

Missouri actually did well in the non con last year with road wins at Minnesota and Pitt.

Those are good wins.
I got no hate for Mizzou, just having some fun with the back and forth.

Gripe: (probably because I’m prediabetic and cannot have my morning coke.)
I’m sure it doesn’t bother anyone else but the term “KenPom” is seriously limp wristed. I understand it’s an abbreviated version of Ken Pomeroy but couldn’t he come up with something better for his website alluding to sports or athletics? Something like sportingamerica.com etc. He could still put Ken Pomeroy as a subheading in the body of the front page: Sporting America by Ken Pomeroy …..
