Interestingly, Brian Kelly’s contractual obligation to find another job is spelled out in just one sentence of his LSU contract with no reference to what he must do to show he is trying to find a job or what the consequences will be if he doesn’t meet that obligation.
That’s most of these contracts. They have to “look” for work. It’s probably all moot because the buyout was negotiated to around half. I’m guessing that he was given the concession that he didn’t have to look for work/there would be no offset if he did find work.

No one said he was terminated for cause. He wasn’t fired for cause. No one has reported that because it isn’t what happened.
He will continue receiving $800k a month as scheduled til 2031. They are working on a lump sum settlement offer. LSU has leverage (mitigation) on pushing that lump sum settlement offer down from the NPV

You should remember he said that next time he tries to chime in on something that matters at LSU. He made it up and is dumb enough to have believed even for a second that that's how any of this works. A child's understanding of contract law.

I'm sure LSU press woud like you to believe they are working on a settlement. Kelly's contract already has clear language what the terms of the settlement will be. Any LSU attempt to wiggle out of it would require leverage they do not have.
Which is why we're getting so much misinformation from their desperate prss currently.

Our local CBS affiliate is reporting that a source he trusts tells him that throught the morality clause, they agreed on $27M.
Probably a bullshite report.

He 100% did in this case.
Well not for no reason I guess. The reason in this case is that he's a desperate LSU fan looking for leverage that doesn't exist.

He’s deleted that post from Facebook though.

You don’t know what you’re talking about.
He gets $800k/mo. They’re working on a lump sum offer that works for both sides to move on from each other.

Which is a lot different than ppl saying LSU is leveraging the morality clause to pay him half his buyout.
Kelly will be collecting his buyout in full as described in his contract when this is resolved, which it is not yet. The boilerplate morality clause in his contract has nothing to do with it and anyone who says it does has been lying to you.

Maybe not, but I do agree with you in that if he doesn’t collect in full, it won’t be because of the stupid morality clause.

quote:This. Someone else ran the numbers and said that the present value of Kelly's unmitigated buyout would be $33 million. He's getting paid $9.4 million per year. Let's say he can find a job that pays 1/3 of that (a huge step down), which should be applied as mitigation. You'd then be down to a $22 million lump sum payment, net, to account for mitigation.

They will settle for a lump sum somewhere in the 20s and everyone will move on down the road.

LSU fans spent months ridiculing Texas A&M over Jimbo’s buyout.
well they paid him 77 million dollars and it was owed within like 60 days, so yeah that's a whole lot worse

I don't care if he gets half or all. $0 are coming from Bhamtigah.

You are really gonna be upset when you find out that Kelly is only getting 27 million. Sorry sugarbear. Nobody on this site has been as invested in this as you have since Kelly got fired.

- he’s just been fired for failure to perform when given millions in NIL, facilities, and other resources
- he’s regularly described as irascible, unlikable, difficult to work for, and lazy
- he’s 64 years old and unlikely to change
who the hell above the FCS level will hire him? especially for $3 million a year?
