Yeah I forgot about that, that was truly a blessing for all State fans and long overdue, as they really had some terrible luck in the CWS, and were really the granddaddy of SEC baseball.
It seems like sometimes it’s only the old LSU fans that remember this but there is no LSU baseball without Ron Polk at Mississippi State, and no SEC baseball dominance without Ron Polk and his success at Mississippi State. He and Skip Bertman were good friends and he is one of the people that helped convince Skip to come to LSU so the SEC could become a better conference. So really as bizarre as it sounds he has to get some of the credit for LSUs first 5 National Championships too. I really wish that Polk could have gotten one too but he is clearly a baseball HOF coach. I was glad to Mississippi State to get that one
