Funnest part of being an LSU fan on this board if I'm being honest.

In case you missed it the first time.

Section 15. Basket Interference and Goaltending

5. Causes the basket or backboard to vibrate when the ball is on or within
the basket or the backboard and/or is on or in the cylinder.

These were both judgement calls, in the end most UK fans seem to agree they didnt lose the game because of a final call at this point.

He made significant contact with the rim when the ball was above the rim. If it isn't goaltending or basket interference players would jump up and swat the rim or backboard on every shot.

Whether the LSU guy interferes certainly is not. The latter was clear as day.

Agreed. Perfectly clean and clutch put back for the win at Rupp Arena against a top 5 Kentucky. How about that?

I'll post the exact rule in this thread too for posterity

2011 rule book (rule on interference hasn't changed)

quote:

a. Touches the ball or any part of the basket while the ball is on or within the basket;

b. Touches the ball while any part of it is within the cylinder that has the ring as its lower base;

c. Reaches through the basket from below and touches the ball before it enters the cylinder; or

d. Pulls down a movable ring so that it contacts the ball before the ring returns to its original position.

Also

quote:

Art. 1. The ball shall be considered to be within the basket when any part of the ball is below the cylinder and the level of the ring.

so the ball wasn't within the basket when the UK player stuck his hand through the rim, so that's not interference

but the ball was in the cylinder when the LSU player contacted it, so that was interference

but whatever

It doesn't have to be in the basket, it clearly states also off the backboard, which it was that.

But the ball does need to be within the basket, which is clearly defined as above

Just watch the replay, it's on both Kentucky defenders on the first shot.

Too easy to see.

#25 also slapped the backboard as the ball was on it. I assume yall say that's also not goaltending?

fricking sore losers. I love it.

Goaltending and interference have different definitions. Touching the ball on the backboard in goaltending

quote:

a. Touches the ball or any part of the basket while the ball is on or within the basket;

quote:

Art. 1. The ball shall be considered to be within the basket when any part of the ball is below the cylinder and the level of the ring.

you can touch the net as long as the ball isn't within the basket

The rule may state that but if you consider any part of the ball in the cylinder to be goaltending they miss a ton of those calls every game, thatsnot really how that rule is enforced. Its enforced as if they believe the ball has a chance to still go in on its own.

You saw the angle from above the rim where the camera shakes a split second before the ball hits the rim then shakes again when the ball hits?

The very next angle shows #25 slapping the backboard. Also illegal.

UK tried their hardest to make that ball miss. They did so good, it left a clean followup at the buzzer for a Tiger win.

Yeah they could have definitely called Kentucky for more violations. But in the end, it didn’t matter.
