They are 246-107-3 since Bryant retired. Thats a .673 winning percentage.
By comparison, during the same period UT is 250-99-6 for a .683 winning percentage.
Anyone who says that Tennessee is irrelevant has obviously gone full retard.

the reason why it isn't a stupid comment is that bama fans often point out how great their program has ALWAYS BEEN. they had one coach that was so great is record statisticaly skewed their numbers. fact.
It may not be 'stupid' from that perspective, but it is agenda-laden and more than a little intellectually dishonest.

The Dubose, Fran, & Shula years at Bama were particularly kind to others in the conference and brutal to Bama fans.
I think most schools can make similar statements. For LSU, the Archer, Hallman, Gerry D years were particularly kind to others in the conference...
But hey, those were still LSU football seasons that we can't just delete.

You're absolutely right, but by the same token, we can't just ignore everything from the beginning of time up until the day Coach Bryant retired as a lot of thirty-something fans on here like to do.
We can't ignore everything up until the beginning of the BCS era as a lot of twenty-something fans on here tend to like to do.
We can't choose to talk about wins against a team "during my lifetime," because as has already been seen, there are plenty of people who post on the SECr who are older than I am, and have seen more football than I have.
I say that if we're going to talk about football history, we have to talk about the whole damn thing. Sure, we'll take into consideration the fact that the game has changed and evolved over time.
It's fair to concede that the game has changed a lot since the leather helmet days.
It's not fair to pretend those days never happened, or to diminish their significance by discounting them as unimportant or irrelevant.

No question. The problem with youth is being young and having no idea about history. Hell, UT is 9th in all time wins.
UT is irrelevant right now, but there is too much money in that athletic department to stay irrelevant for much longer.

Well the 73-82 was our worst decade. On probation, coaching turmoil etc. And yet you certainly aren't running to throw back your success in the 70's. Every team has ups and downs, and you don't get a free pass on yours.
The only people I see saying this is AU and Anti-Bama fans (Which is everyone else) Bama was average through perkins, a little better through Bill Curry, had a great run through the Stallings years. No bama fan denies things sucked through dubose/fran/shula era. There were good moments, but for the most part it sucked.
After Coach Bryant and the advent of scholarship limits and the hiring of good coaches at other SEC schools, things have balanced out and there is good football across the SEC for the most part.
But then, the random number of 30 years works for a lot of fans. So have at it. FAP away.
