I think most A&M fans were upset we didn't run the ball more after you adjusted. Ben Malena was having a pretty good day.
You tried. It was stopped, the scheme forced JFF to stay in the pocket and throw. It's clear he sucks at that.

Glad you had a good time

I don't think you'll find an Aggie that think JFF played his best game against LSU. I think he will improve.
But the point is, I still think this style of offense can work in the SEC. We fare as well or better than other style of offenses. You appear to think it can't work in this conference, period. We can agree to disagree - we aren't changing each others' minds. We'll just have to see ya next year.

How many SEC Champions have run that style?

UF says hi
ETA: And she did say our offensive style "can work" in the SEC, not "guarantees championships." No offensive or defensive system can do that, but that's stating the obvious, of course.

What does that have to do with whether it will work for this particular team? Are you trying to say that if no recent SEC champs have used it, it can't possibly work? That's a pretty bad argument.

Completely false.
Malena had 8 carries the first half (4 each quarter) for an average of around 6.5 yards per carry only 1 for negative yards.
The second half he had 2 in each quarter for an average right at 6.5
CMike had 4 carries each half (zero touches in 4th qtr) averaged 2.5 in the first half due to 1 run with -4 (4.7 avg without that blown play) and 4 runs in the 3rd qtr to average 4.25.
So even though our per yardage average was BETTER in the second half with our RBs we ran the ball 33% less with them in the second half.
You may have stopped Johnny's runs (most of which he checked into out of an empty set) but you were not stopping our RBs, that is what most of our fans were ticked off about.
You had one RB averaging >6 ypc and one over 4 and they combine for 2 rushes in the 4th qtr.
Your assertion that we tried to run but we were stopped is false. The QB draw has been 50-50 at most for us all year, most of JFFs rushing yards come on scrambles, not designed rushes and even shutting him down to only 30 yards rushing you still gave up 164 yards rushing to our team and we should have used it more in the second half against a 3 man front.

Just curious what area of campus the LSU folks tailgated? It can make a difference, but I do agree that with the start time it probably didn't matter too much.

I sat in Section 149, above the LSU band. Very poorly designed stadium. Our section was probably 20 yards beyond the end zone, so we basically stood at an angle to watch the game. Stadium does NOT hold in noise. I traveled to Auburn and Florida this year, and would say it reached about 65% of their noise level
Those are some terrible seats. The noise level in that area isn't help by the fact that upper decks do not extend behind them so there are zero people facing you. Hopefully this get fixed soon with the remodel.
Glad you had a good time. There really seemed to be a lot of LSU fans there. It seemed a fair number just came out to tailgate for the afternoon and didn't have tickets

LSU won and deserved to win. No question there. They didn't win though because our offense couldn't work against you, they won because we made several mistakes on turnovers and penalties that turned the game. Great teams make those plays but still the offensive scheme wasn't the issue.
Example 1: The screen pass TD by Malena when we inexplicably chop blocked your 1 defender that Malena was already leaving in the dust.
Example 2: Malena's fumble before half. Very out of character for him to not secure the ball better.
Example 3: The interception that bounced off Evans that killed a drive when A&M was about to have 1st down inside the 30.
Example 4: Manziel hesitating and going right instead of following his blocking to the left on the 1st Down play after the kickoff return, he could have walked into the EZ.
There were others of course but those are just 4 plays that turned the game. Once again, props to LSU for making plays but those are examples of mental errors by A&M that can be cleaned up and if they are this team not only wins but wins going away. The scheme worked, the execution was just too inconsistent to beat a team of LSU's caliber. Three of the 4 mistakes I mentioned above were also made by Freshman. They will learn and grow. Manziel specifically has to learn he can't out athlete the elite defenses and he can't force throws, the margin for error is just too small. It's hard to really understand that though until you play against that kind of speed and talent that UF and LSU bring with Bama coming soon.
Props to LSU, you deserved the W. A&M is not there yet. This just was a very different feeling than '10 though when I remember walking out of the Cotton Bowl and thinking, "Damn, we have a LONG way to go." The inherent weakness of this A&M team is experience and depth but if they can put 4 quarters of mistake free ball together they are as dangerous as any team around. I like where we are headed.

Aggressor, good thoughts. At the end of the day, LSU still forced the turnovers and took advantage of our youthful mistakes. I was very impressed with their team speed and strength. I wouldn't be surprised if the entire starting 11 on defense for LSU ends up playing on Sundays.
It was great to watch Johnny rebound from his mistakes (we know they are going to happen) and I can't wait to see him continue to grow.
It was interesting to see the LSU fans at Kyle and I thought most were very friendly and seemed to have a good time. I didn't notice any incidents that justified the reputation that we keep hearing.
This game needs to be on Thanksgiving ... bring the hate.

Enjoyed PosterHype's description of his weekend at Texas A & M, with one caveat-- Houston is not a "nice breakup" for the trip viz Lake Charles, Beaumont. Houston is an ordeal to be suffered whenever going west.
