I don’t think it’s necessarily unethical but would say it’s pathetic. It’s no different than paparazzi following around celebrities. People with worthwhile things to do don’t follow other people around trying to bust them.

No! Athletic staffers don’t need to be at strip clubs or bars with athletes. PERIOD. End of Story! It’s a problem if they’re at the Georgie Theatre together. This isn’t difficult and really has nothing to do with it being a strip club other than it went from incredibly stupid to very incredibly stupid.

What does this have to do with my question in OP about whether or not you think it is ethical for journalists to stake-out and spy on college athletes to dig up dirt?

What's the difference between pathetic and unethical? I know you to be a good poster over a long period of time, I appreciate your opinions even if I don't agree with them.

So you are saying the mighty prestigious AJC is lowering themselves to the unethical sleazy standards of the hollywood paparazzi. Or do I misinterpret you?

There is a perception of it all,

Your perception, personally? Forget all the noise, what's your personal perception, no ESPN or internet, what is your personal perception of this, and how the AJC says they are now following around athletes and spying on them.

Regarding the Robert Frost quote, are you saying they should have just stayed home and played video games, maybe bust out the Clue board game and made some popcorn... but because they went downtown they chose the wrong road, and therefore, it's ok for "journalists" to spy on college athletes looking for dirt.

I wouldn’t say it’s unethical because ultimately the reporters were doing their job and were staking out a public venue. Assuming they weren’t lying about their identity or something dishonest, I think that’s in bounds.

I think it’s pathetic because if someone finds themselves in a job where they are being asked to stake out a strip club to investigate whether college football players drink there, they should immediately quit that job. Not quitting that job shows a complete lack of motivation to do anything positive or fulfilling.

That’s pretty much correct. Most large media organizations have a paparazzi element.

Can yall find one of the other five conspiracy threads to do this?

My thread is about whether or not it is ethical for journalists to stalk college athletes to dig up dirt. Whether it is UGA, Mizzou, Citadel, or Colorado State.

I agree on preparing for the worst, for Georgia. Tox report is not the biggest issue.

Rental vehicle driven by Georgia Staffer ... who rented the vehicle? Georgia Athletic Department?

Georgia Staff out @ 2:30 am w/ Georgia student athletes...that's a big NO! PERIOD!!! Employees CANNOT be together at a bar with students/athletes!

Who paid the tab? Split 4 ways? sure? Georgia Athletic Department?

Horrible accident. Vehicle well in excess of 40 MPH.

Remember 2 kids died.

How do you know players don’t want to be followed by journalists? They are big dawgs now with all eyes on them.

They are making bank on the name, image, likeness and they are marketing themselves to make even more $$. They want the attention and notoriety, they live off their “brand” now.

they arent having a college life in many cases.

Schools who have been paying millions for players have destroyed the game of college football. Stop acting like there are college students involved.

I’d like to see how they’re spending their money at 18 years old.

Georgia may be the first team to have their titles revoked. 1980.

I agree with this sentiment, and I have agreed with it at least twice in this thread, and numerous other places here. NIL is a double edged sword. I won't argue with that.

But getting followed by journalists to post your every move is creepy. Whether you are Princess Di or Quantavious McMaynerberry.
