Finebaum is setting it up so he can declare DeBoer a failure if Alabama loses and question whether he should be fired. Every word Finebaum speaks is designed to line up callers for his show.
When you think about it, it makes total sense why Finebaum is considering a run for one of Alabama’s Senate seats. He already operates like a politician. Everything he says is designed to play to an audience and get a reaction.

Finebaum always has an ultier motive. He's gone from thinking Bama will lose to picking them to win. He's setting up a situation where he picks Bama, if they get beat, he'll have some catastrophic Bama is dead material for his show. Its all about his callers. They keep him getting paid.
