I don’t think it was Currie. He had at a minimum two good coaches hired. It is not his fault he received no support.

What a fricking mess. UT has hammered itself worse than Ole Miss is about to be.

else in the AD and VN. Currie should've been fired after Schiano.

Why has every coach you all have talked to been leaked?

Because Fulmer is a backstabbing SOB. Wake up.

More Sources: John Currie was prepared to hire Mike Leach but university officials wouldn’t allow him to do so.

Yeah, Currie is the scapegoat. Leach would be a great hire. I'd run that fat frick out of Knoxville.

So has it essentially been Currie/ Haslams V Fulmer/ other boosters?

Yes this is essentially true.

The Haslams have been behind pretty much every football hire since Fulmer. They pull the strings so that they have complete access to the program. They hand picked Currie b/c he would be their yes man.

To throw it back to Gruden for an example, Currie never talked to him. It was Charlie Ergen, Peyton, and other big boosters(not named Haslam) on those planes that were tracked down to Tampa and back. They had reached an agreement with Gruden, and he had 2 stipulations. 1) He wanted a week before it was announced to finalize a staff. 2) He wanted full control. Currie said no b/c 1) he was set on announcing last Sunday, a day after the season ended; and 2) the Haslams would never give up control and hand it all over to the coach. Thus the scramble to try to force Schiano through.

There have been rumors of all the boosters not named Haslam becoming more and more fed up with the Haslam's having all the power and control and basically running the program into the ground. This coup of the other boosters(which includes Phil and Peyton) has been brewing for a while.

I don’t buy it.

I’d say that Fulmer is leaking every single coach they talk to to make Currie look like he can’t get anyone. Then when he gets someone, he’s sabotaging it.

He’s a bitch and the administration is enabling his bitchness.

In the grand scheme of things, one or two boosters don't mean jack (maybe in a couple of instances they do). There is so much revenue coming in now for programs that wasn't there even 3 years ago, schools need to start telling them to get fricked, it's not pay for play.

This. Why is Fulmer still around and why does he even still have access? Dude was fired, seems odd to me that he would have the access this many years later that he does? I mean is Currie that hated and Phil really that liked? I have a hard time believing all that.

@Brett_McMurphy just told us that people inside the Tennessee program were calling coaches who Currie was trying to hire and tell them not to come and that it is toxic.

Yeah but the Haslams are literal Billionaires so they are in your pool of exceptions. I have no idea how much they give to the program these days? Obviously it must be as much or more than the other big boosters combined?

Sounds about like how Fulmer got the head coaching job. Sabotage and backstabbing...

Maybe Fulmer wants to be AD and HC. Like Bryant was at Bama...

Would be glorious. Never change Vols... never change...
