Potentially means my favorite show "As the Vols Burn" is about to have a series finale come up.

interview was interviewing Tim Tebow about the football rivalry between Tennessee and Alabama

So her most memorable interview was asking a player about a rivalry game he never played in.

Well the one thing we do know is Gruden was never formally offered by the House of Haslam and Currie after he wouldn't entertain an offer period without having complete control of the football program. They said no. And he declined to even listen to their pitch.

Obviously, he was going to say no and politely turn down the job. But the fact the Haslams and Currie wouldn't agree to give him complete control when Dish Network's Charlie Ergen was going to help fork up that $10M annual contract offer is complete horse crap.

In hindsight, we could have put $10M on the table for Gruden first, publicly. Got turned down publicly. Shut the fans up. Had coaches salivating over a big money boost. The fans wouldn't have rioted. Gotten a good damn coach.

Currie stays. House of Haslam remains. None of this is a story.

BUT NOOOOOOOOOOOOO

And I'm not complaining. This is damn sure entertaining.

Haslam’s the true AD of Tennessee, all these nominal ADs are simply puppets, Currie was about to score with a big-timer, the power players didn’t agree with it, poof he’s gone.

Been hearing from Vol Alums/buddies that this was happening pre Schiano. Word is getting out that Currie had someone UT wanted BADLY and it got axed last minute and it pissed off a lot of big time boosters who worked hard getting it signed. I think Rocky Top is fixing to blow if this has any truth to it

It doesn't. If it did, they wouldn't have let him interview 8 more candidates and agree to hire three of them. He would have already been gone.

In the grand scheme of things, one or two boosters don't mean jack (maybe in a couple of instances they do). There is so much revenue coming in now for programs that wasn't there even 3 years ago, schools need to start telling them to get fricked, it's not pay for play.

In this one Haslam does at UT. He played for UT in the early 50s. started Pilot. One of knoxvilles major employers i'm sure. One son is "owner" of the browns, and another is the Gov of TN.

I have a feeling not many schools have a booster that has this much power anymore at the flagship laid across the state.

So he was fired for almost nabbing Leach? After all of this they had a chance to get an actual solid coach and he got undercut yet again then fired?

What in the literal frick is going on in Knoxville? Jesus Christ. After LSU last year I never thought I'd see a more inept coaching search, Tennessee has officially said "hold my beer" and they've blown that out of the water. Holy shite, I've never seen anything like this

If we can't be the best, we are going to be the best at being the worst.

If this is true and you could've had Gruden, you should go string up the Haslams. It is beyond retarded to not take Gruden if he's willing

There is absolutely now way that is true. If they could have hired Gruden, but Currie killed the deal, Currie would have been fired on the spot and Gruden given whatever he wanted

That's been true for awhile for programs that can get big media contracts and / or P5 conference revenue sharing. Still some exceptions (T. Boone at Ok State.) But there are some demographic changes going on that are probably going to kill the media rights cash cow in a generation or less. Then it'll be back to the good ol' boy booster networks.
