Hiring Brady is not a reach at all. What he put together at LSU this year is perhaps the most impressive single season turnaround for a unit ever in CFB. Throw in the fact that LSU has a long reputation of middling offense, and it becomes even more impressive.
There is a strong case to be made that Brady is the best offensive mind in football right now. A prodigy. Worth every penny and then some, IMO.

LSU finished ranked 6th and 7th the year before Joe Brady. It still stings though.
