you're right... doesn't change the fact that goodwin set up the conversation... something he didn't have to do.
You're right too. He didn't have to call Brent and let Pruitt talk to him. But his sure didn't want Brent and Pruitt to meet privately, did he? In fact, Goodwin made damn sure he was there listening to every word.

what about when Calloway told Goodwin he was committing to AU.... Goodwin told him to let the coaches know before they found out on tv....
IMO, Goodwin should've never spoken out... as a high school coach, even if some shady stuff goes down with one of your kids, you don't do anything to potentially undermine his eligibility in college or make him look bad.... but does that not make what he said true?
just a strange story that would've best been left untold, IMO.

That struck me as odd as well, but I wouldn't sweat it too much. I'm sure there are a lot more HS coaches that "steer" kids to Alabama than ones that "steer" kids to Auburn in this state.

Is that good?
I'm not the only person who thinks this.

Wouldn't matter anyway. Their relationship pre-dates his status as a recruit.

jesus.... maybe coach goodwin had something better to do on fall saturdays than to drive to tuscaloosa seven times?.... like review game film from friday's game?
Do coaches travel with every recruit?... I would imagine it's pretty rare, especially on unofficials.... and why the hell wasn't Peaches taking him and some 50 year old creeper was?

It's sounding like none of the HS coaching staff, was going to take anyone to Alabama games.

so the kid's guardian/foster dad/whatever won't take him to tuscaloosa, but some old creeper guy with a fetish for running backs does?....

What exactly was the point of that article? Peaches might be the worst father on earth, but a Dad telling his son that he wants him to stick to his word is not a recruiting violation. The only real allegation is that someone with a pre-existing relationship with Calloway before he was a football star bought him a hotel room for 2 nights in Pensacola. This too is not a violation due to the pre-existing relationship. Even if it was, we are talking a very minor infraction with Calloway owing a few hundred dollars for the room.
Is this really all you have Auburn?

the goal is out creepy douchebags like Daren Woodruff and keep them away from recruits.... like Benequez Brown for instance. I don't think Lee is looking for Alabama to get in trouble... just trying to bring to light how things are done in certian parts of the state.
FWIW, I don't like the precendence it's setting.... this oneupmanship is bad for both schools, and the conference for that matter.

Actually, that's a pretty good question. Would you like to find out who accompanied Calloway on his multiple trips to Auburn? I think you'll find that at least SOMEONE named Goodwin was on most of those trips.
My advice... don't ask. You won't like what you find out.

The only part of that article that would concern me if I was a bama fan is the part about Woodruff driving Brent exclusively to Alabama on multiple occasions and never to any other schools.
Does anybody have the DOT travel logs of Sean Nelson's stops on the way from Thibodeaux, LA to Lee County, AL?

Well, at least Bama's creepy douchebags have the recruit's family's blessing to take them on campus visits.
