I'm assuming with Sark calling offense that the OC budget isn't nearly as high as normal. If that $1m starts to lockdown the offensive talent in Texas then he'll be worth every penny they pay for him.

Agreed - and he trusts Banks and his Texas recruiting ties, my guess is he will be his go to guy on Texas recruiting stuff.

It's all about allocation of resources, and Sark clearly saw Banks as a very important piece of the puzzle that he knew, trusted and fit at Texas.

He had to pay Kyle Flood nicely to be his OC and OLC. Texas seems to be giving him blank checks.

I don't expect Texas to be hiring 1m position coaches but they'll probably be competitive there too. Sark doesn't have any real ties to Texas so 1m for a recruiter is steep but necessary and astute staff building on his part.

I want Saban to hire a homeless guy just to see if someone hires the guy away with a seven figure salary.

You should see the details they have on his personal life on TexAgs. Some really interesting stuff including a stripper and a monkey

Apparently the guy is a freak

Really sad seeing the horns trying to buy a championship.

Why is that sad? Isn’t that what they should be trying to do?

I don't know what to tell people but buying a championship is essentially what Alabama and Clemson have been doing. They generate a lot of fundraising and dump it into the football program aggressively and generously. Anyone serious about winning championship has something like the Crimson Tide Foundation that rakes in cash that goes to capital improvements, scholarship funding, and staff salary.

And the Longhorn fans on Twitter are so excited bc they think they have taken more coaches from Alabama than anyone else - it’s a weird thing to be competitive about, but man they are excited.

If he’s an ace recruiter then he’s worth it

Is he?

Can you blame them? This is the most important thing they've accomplished in a decade

And when you say "it doesn't matter and will not make Alabama any worse just like every other time the staff has been raided by one or more schools" they try to act obtuse and make it out like they weren't inferring they're making Alabama worse at their Horn's benefit and they're really "triggerin' da bams" or some shite.

Seriously, Texas could poach every single on-field assistant and coordinator from Alabama and I'd bet it is more likely Alabama wins a title in 4 years than Sark still being the coach at Texas. Alabama essentially lost their entire coaching staff besides HC after 2018 and they won a natty 2 years later. Texas has nailed 3 straight coaching hires but the previous 2 went off like a train wreck.

One guy actually made a spreadsheet of every coach that has left Alabama since Saban was hired, and where they went. He left out a ton of coaches for a self-described football nerd. Like Cochran wasn’t even included.

Yup, I'm not super high on Jimbo Fisher in the 2020s because I don't think he's really adapted to the easy win offense stuff you can do these days. But he recruits like a MFer and I think Herman not containing him was another big reason why he got a quick cut. At this juncture Texas needs to beat back Aggy a bit...I don't think claiming first pass at all blue chips in the state is even on the menu yet.
