Well, River Rd attaches to East Campus Village (ECV) where parking is free and first come first serve. ECV has multiple good tailgating areas, you just have to get there early enough to stake your claim. So River Rd or ECV, take your pick.

BTW, any of you other Dawgs know when that new deck next to GA Theatre downtown is scheduled to open? Thing looks plush as hell

Do you mean near the Frat houses by River Rd or the Art museum/dept?

Say we arrive around 9 and there's nothing available that will suit us. Where should we go then? Closer to downtown? Baxter Street? TIA

Alternatively you could find a nice grassy spot somewhere closer to the stadium and drop all of your people and stuff off there then go park in a pay lot and walk back. Wouldn't do that if you want to leave quickly though

There is pay parking at Clarke Central High School and most of the bookstore parking lots, but the walk is hell going up/down Baxter Hill.

Parked in a bus there in 07 and 09. You're right, it's one hell of a walk. I don't think we'll park that far out.

I'm banking on River Road, with a pay lot near the stadium being my backup plan.

Yeah, not sure how to get up there on gameday though. Just seen a lot of people park there the past couple of years. ECV has a shite ton of parking if you know where to look

As for tailgating, You're just going to have to try and show up as early as you can. If you can't find a spot in ECV, try Foundry Street. it's on the bottom back side of the Classic Center Parkig deck and we've had a good ol time tailgating there against LSU before. But if not there then youll probably have to have someone pull the car up along Jackson street, unload the tailgating goods to set up on North Campus, and then find a place nearby to park (a local church usually has a lot for $10 over on East Hancock Ave. Just follow Thomas St north downtown and turn right when you hit Hancock; only problem with the drop and park idea, though, is that you have to trust your tailgating stuff by itself on North Campus during the game and you have to find a way to get it back afterward)

What i think might be your best bet (unless they've banned tailgating there since I was there back in 09) would be what I've bolded above. But I'd ask around on other UGA boards just to make sure that it's still fair game. Dont want you to get busted

QCC,

1. The ATO house is on Milledge not River Road. It's pretty much in the middle of the 5 points and baxter intersections.

2. ECV/River Road are definitely the best places to park on gameday. Get there early just to be sure.

3. Don't forget about North Campus too. If you can get there early enough you can find a spot close to downtown and walk to a spot in north campus. Don't worry about meters because a ticket in Athens is cheaper than paying for parking.

Good look and have fun the in our little town my friend

I'm not sure we'll be doing that

I think I'm gonna talk my crowd into leaving at 6ish. That should give us enough time to arrive and find a good spot.

Thanks for the advice
