No evidence for this at all. Saban didn't think so last year & DeBoer doesn't think so right now.

If Simpson is as good as everyone thinks, he wouldn't have shite the bed in his golden opportunity moment against South Florida.

How about SImpson and Lonergan, who many practice observers thought was the best passing qb last yr as a freshman. Can they also improve,

Um, yeah? Why wouldn't they be able to?

Is it even possible that they may have improved more than Milroe has in the last yr?

Sure, why not?

To me college production >>>>> NFL production.

Give me Tee Martin and a national championship over Peyton Manning and no championship.

Sure, alum success in the NFL helps a school recruit, but college success is still more important. Especially at qb.

So if Milroe can win while at Bama, that's enough.

So, for the record, you think he might be better than Penix, Burrow, and Daniels?
who knows. Milroe certainly has all the potential in the world. what did any of them do prior to blowing up that would make you think they would turn into what they did? You are doing the hindsight thing, these great QBs didn't start of great, but because milroe had some things to work on and wasnt perfect in his first year starting, he's just always going to be exactly like that?

I think the burrow comparison is apt, he had a decent year in 2018 but not spectacular, very similar statistically to what milroe did last year but less efficient than milroe was, then they had an offensive staff change and he blew up in 2019. Will that happen with milroe, don't know but I sure hope so. I just don't understand writing him off when he had what was by any measure a good season last year, took Bama to one or 2 plays from another national championship with a deeply flawed team and an OC running the most predictable offense.

You say he was on a deeply flawed team. I say he was on a very good team and he was not the reason we got there. In fact, on the last play he ended the team’s season by ruining straight into a pile of defenders.

No excuses this season. He either proves he’s elite or he proves he’s an average qb on a team with a lot of talent

Everyone knows this.
Kinda like how Tebow was great in college but flopped in NFL. Not that Milroe is anything close to Tebow

That was his first real playing time ever. He came in on the road in a complete shite show and saved the game for us.

It wasn't pretty, but he got the job done. He wasn't prepared to play. That was Buchner's golden opportunity - not Simpson's

what hype is there though? I think most of us are cautiously optimistic, but realize that there is a possibility that Milroe just can't figure it out and we move to Simpson or someone else.

Deboer will make sure Bama has REAL QBs and not just athletes playing out of position. Deboer is having to clean up a mess at QB that Saban left. Deboer would have never allowed a Milroe type situation to get to the level it has. When Milroe leaves Deboer can start fresh there.

I was about to agree with this, but really our mess at QB is just Milroe.
We don't have a bad QB situation with Ty Simpson, Lonergan, and Austin Mack who DeBoer brought from Washington.

Also, don't forget that we were supposed to have Julian Sayin who'd probably be the best QB on our roster right now...

hmm, trying to remember if there was something that happened immediately prior to that, which also happened constantly throughout the season, that might have contributed to that play going wrong?

Of course not, football isn't a one man sport.

that was a pretty shitty play-call in that situation on top of a snap at his shoelaces.

is not conducive to good QB play when every play starts with not knowing if the ball is going in the dirt at your feet or 10 feet over your head, plus as you say bad play calling not helping out at all. We haven't had any scheming advantage since sark left. Milroe has had BoB, who didn't put anyone into developing milroe, and Rees who im sure had good intentions but probably not the ability to develop a QB. The guy thought ty buchner should have been starter at one point

The snap was between the knees and shoe top.

It’s always the center or the OC or the line or the receivers and on and on. It’s never Milroe.

He completed 5 passes for 70 yards & no TD's against the 113th ranked defense in the country.

The Simpson hype comes from people who a) havent liked Milroe from the beginning & prob never will & b) think bc TS was a 5* that automatically makes him better

Is it ok if I hope Lonergan is as good as practice observers have claimed?

We don't have a mess at QB. Our starter is 4th in odds to win the Heisman.

Because he’s the starting qb at Alabama Bryce Young won the Heisman and a lot of you say that OBrien sucks

Poor man’s Jalen Hurts. Can really run with the ball and has better arm strength than other mobile QBs like Vince Young.

If he has Hurts’ work ethic, then he’ll make an NFL roster.

Please make it be 2025. I can’t stand another year waiting for Milroe’s often noted potential
