NCAA admitted that they did much of the investigation on hearsay, most coming from Julie Gilbert, who used a fake name at first in her communications with the NCAA investigator.

quote:

Gibert provided Johanningmeier "significant" amounts of information of potential MSU violations of NCAA policy and alleged wrongdoing, according to court testimony. Much of the information turned out not to be credible, Johanningmeier admitted on the stand. Still, the two were in frequent contact via email, over the phone and even in person.

Johanningmeier claimed he did not know Gibert's true identity early into the investigation since she went under the pseudonym "Margie Doe" to remain private.

Among the allegations by Gibert, later determined to be untrue, were that Sherrill had installed "his guy" as university president and a former staffer as university compliance officer.

Despite most of the information being fed to the NCAA turning out to be untrue, NCAA investigator admitted to meeting Gilbert several times at a Jackson-area hotel, but denied a relationship. Admitted that it was obvious that Gilbert hated Sherrill and Mississippi State.

NCAA is paying Sherrill an undisclosed amount of money to settle the case. Gilbert previously settled the lawsuit Sherrill brought against her in 2018. Her husband stated that "it was just to get this mess behind us."

This is really one of those times that I am in shock. This scandalous message board rumor stuff turned out to be mostly true.

You are an idiot. He said he heard it for decades and its complete bullshite as are your other stories. Glad to see NCAA take a hit even if it was to one of the biggest cheaters in college football.

2 things I’ve know were absolute truth. 1. Gilbert was meeting NCAA investigator at hotels. Were they fricking? Conventional wisdom says yes. There’s so many more clandestine locations to meet in the Ridgeland/Madison/North Jackson area than hotels. You have the Natchez Trace or Ross Barnett Reservoir for Christ’s sake. If you agree to meet someone at a hotel you both are going there with the intent to frick the other one.

2 was the Waynesboro ACT testing scam for OM players. That was so blatantly obvious that it was no secret the slut that was administering the oral tests for all the OM recruits was telling them the answers.

Now just finish the damn book Jackie and take my money!

I've been waiting for this book for 19 years now and I have a feeling Jackie has been waiting 15 years for the conclusion.

It's a simple question: What was Jackie Wayne Sherrill found guilty of?

How many major violations was MSU found guilty of while he was at State?

C'mon, this is easy

The answer is zero.

One observer shared that Tuesday was a bad day for the NCAA and Wednesday was "devastating". As the court took a lunch break with former NCAA staffer Mark Jones expected to return to the stand for his direct examination, settlement talks began in earnest.

Yeah. Folks do not settle after a trial begins unless they know that they are going to be hammered.

The trial happened in the county that I live in. The local reports basically said the NCAA was caught in a ton of lies and their investigation was a sham. Makes me feel like Ole Miss should sue them.

Good Lord. In legal settlements both sides agree to keep their mouths shut about the other side. That and money are how these deals get done. Loser.

I'm seriously pissed. He says in the article it had been 18 years. What is a few more days.

It's sealed and neither side can talk about it.

That benefits nobody but the NCAA

How funny is it that ole miss fans have been bitching and blaming state for all their recent problems and then everyone gets reminded just who the real little brother is.

Jackie is the OG. Add Jim Waide as his attorney, and they jacked the NCAA.

Ole miss fan: I laugh at the absurdity of an OM booster trying to bring down Jackie by meeting up with an investigator at a seedy hotel and ummm...

"Despite most of the information being fed to the NCAA turning out to be untrue, NCAA investigator admitted to meeting Gilbert several times at a Jackson-area hotel,"

Damn dem facts are a bitch.
