No offense but I wish LSU fans and media could get their stories straight.

LSU Football: Tigers have only 51 scholarship players for Texas Bowl
Former national championship-winning running back Jacob Hester stated the Tigers have just 51 scholarship players for the game.

LSU Tigers Wire

Despite 45 scholarship players, LSU makes no excuses for Texas Bowl: ‘We’re going to win’

There were 45 scholarship players listed on the depth chart, which included the first and second string at every spot.
The Advocate

LSU will have low number of scholarship players available for Texas Bowl

The Tigers recently released their depth chart for the game against Kansas State, and 247Sports reporter Shea Dixon noted that they will have “barely 40 guys available who arrived at LSU on scholarship.”
SDS

And now you are claiming 34?
I have seen 38, 39 and now 34.

BK inherited a program with 38 scholarship players. You sure do like revisionist history.

Doesn't really matter what I say, Brian Kelly has said several times that it was 39 so that's what it was.

Look. I don't care. Y'all were way below the limit, but in fairness, so were a lot of other teams due to covid, opt outs etc. LSU was probably lower than most if not all other teams.

Doesn't Brian Kelly release the Depth Chart before games, though?

Yes, LSU fans are all over the place with the actual number and I'm not sure why.

The year prior to his arrival LSU was #3 in team talent. Even if he rebuilt the roster, it still was one of the most talented teams in the country according to 247sports

This season will be pretty weak for QBs. No one really stands out besides Caleb Williams. Milton looked fantastic in the bowl game. Would not shock me if he were to make it to New York.

40-13 is the what I remember last about LSU football. And getting run out of your stadium my a less talented team according to 247sports rankings.

Haven't seen anyone arguing that they weren't talented, a rebuild is a rebuild though.

My bad! It was late when I typed that and it was 39. What people are failing to realize how many players bailed out the second Ed O was fired. They opted out of the bowl game and hit the portal as soon as they could. So any rankings before BK was hired is not very telling of what he inherited

Well no, Heupel went 7-6 and Kelly went 10-4.

So after 4 years in college at Michigan and Tennessee he will finally hone his throwing mechanics so he can be accurate……sorry I don’t see that being the case.

I saw what I needed to see in the Orange Bowl. Heupel develops QBs.

Vols fans seem to be putting a lot of stock into that game but also ignoring that Clemson had a pretty bad pass defense last year.

They were around #65 in opposing passing yards allowed and one of the worst teams in the country in opposing passing percentage.

A naysayer could also point to the Vanderbilt game where Milton barely completed 50% of his passes for 147 yards and a touchdown.

Best quarterback in the country? Really?

Kelly took over a team that was #3 in talent rankings year before he showed up. Kelly had 13 5*s and 45 or so 4*’s to work with when he showed up. Heupel took over a team that was under NCAA investigations, had 31 transfers before he was hired, and followed the 3 worse coaches in possibly NCAA history. So I honestly doubt BK could have done any better under those same circumstances. And oh Heupel went 11-2 in his 2nd year while also still under investigation. He is having to try and recruit while the NCAA still hasn’t complete its investigation. I say the UT job was hell of lot harder than the LSU job.

I am expecting a lot of long overthrown balls this year from him.

Thing is, he connected on a lot of long passes last year in mop up and as a backup when Hooker went down.

He was more accurate last year than he was in 2021 when he started the first few games.

I expect that to continue improving.
