From what I have seen from Pitt, they are no joke either.

It really is. We're the flagship university in a state with a good bit of HS talent. We border two states that have a lot of HS talent as well. We have a rabid and loyal fanbase. We have the resources to be competitive. There is no reason South Carolina shouldn't be an 8-4 or 7-5 team almost every year.

Sitting next to my buddy at the game we just kept looking at the stat line for SC in the 3rd Quarter. Started at 11 yards. Then after another series it went down to 10. Then it actually dropped to 9 yards of Total Offense late in the 3rd Quarter and ended at 15 with USC getting a little gain there at the end.

With it 44-0 Jimbo started emptying the bench and they came back and got the cheap TDs at the end including calling time out so they could get the last one with 12 seconds left to make it 44-14.

This first quarter pic of Noland describes the game quite well.

GOAT for SC.

GOAT partier for sure. But in terms of all time Gamecock QBs he's probably around #4 or so. Garcia was there for the 2010 and half the 2011 season. But after that loss to AU in 2011 it was Connor Shaw who took over for the remainder of that stretch at the end of 2013.

Shaw is considered our GOAT. All time wins, never lost a game at home, never lost a bowl game, beat the tar out of our rivals, etc.

I don't remember that. When was it?

I looked it up. 1998. South Carolina played for one in
2010. So, y'all can remember 1998 but not 2010?

Orchestrated that miraculous comeback against Missouri (double OT win) and I believe he came into that game a bit injured too.

We have, more recently that GA won a national championship.

So you think it a better accomplishment to play for an SEC Championship than to win a national Championship, now?

Okay. So Mississippi State played for an SEC Championship in 1998 and Georgia played for a National Championship in 2017.

Do you really want to point out 1980? Remind us all when MState last won a National Championship? I mean, don't pull out baseball because if we are counting all National Championships I think MState will fall short again.

FTR? I was not criticizing MState so much as the MState fan trying to belittle South Carolina's accomplishments.

Auburn has a well deserved reputation for shutting down certain Heisman contenders / 1st string QB's only to get scorched by their backups at any time in any game in any given year. That's Auburn. Personally, I thought QB SG was a selfish and unprioritized QB. Connor Shaw was pretty much the polar opposite, to me at least. He was tough, a team player, responsible, a leader with his arm, legs, and guts. I saw him take plenty of hard hits and pop right back up to get his offense ready for the next play. And hee didn't seem at all like the POS Garcia was.

Garcia almost ran me over when I was walking to class, since he was driving his moped right through one of the busiest walking areas of campus. He seemed like a huge tool.

When was SC good at football?

Under Spurrier, I think they won 11 games at least twice.

They had a great team back in the early 1980s.

I’m not sure about history, but since joining SEC in 1992, I’ve seen some good players go through there and some good coaches.

When they are down though, it looks brutal.

Auburn went 0-8 in 2012, won the NC in 2010 and won SEC in 2013.

I think the ceiling and floor at USC are lower than many programs, but they have an east division title, they’ve put some studs in the NFL, they’ve beaten big 6 teams, more wins over Saban than Tennessee.

I like Columbia. My daughter goes to school there.

And I never made this thread about us ever being good. It's literally about having one of the worst offenses I have ever seen, anywhere.

Shame USC is not average this year. An average team would beat Clemson.

Are state fans really in here talking smack about football? You guys have won your division once during the modern era of football.

The poster I commented to (and then you jumped into the conversation) certainly did.....unless you don't think a team is good when they play for the SEC Championship.
My advice? If you can't follow the conversation, don't jump into it.

Amazingly enough they are. talking crap to South Carolina and insinuating SC has not had any good teams.

I guess they were spoiled by those Dan Mullen years.

I was at our game. Some gamecocks sat directly behind me and we ended up talking a lot about the USCjr program.

I didn't want to based on some hatred I have for yalls fans. But I ended up feeling sorry for you guys. Penalties, qbs getting mauled etc.. While any program can make a quick turn around by catching some lightening in a bottle via a QB. It appears the only strong corps of guys on yalls team is the RBS.
