Saban would have gave him the boot like Lane if Bama wouldn’t have lost last year in the playoffs.

The early signing period certainly complicates matters, and Fulmer's Lannister-like emergence as Supreme Hillbilly Overlord only makes it worse. The early signing period adds an extra dimension of drama to a situation that needs anything BUT more drama.

I honestly have no idea how CJP would be able to do everything he needs to do in Tuscaloosa to prepare for the CFP against Clemson and simultaneously recruit for Tennessee in an attempt to salvage this class' early enrollees. Working under Saban is tough enough. Working under Saban while Phil Fulmer looms large in the distance, chomping at the bit waiting for you to start a brand new job you've never done before, WITH a time-sensitive deadline? Fuuuuuuuuck that.

But as the newly signed Head Coach, would you not think Tennessee would expect him to put the best interests of Tennessee, above what Saban and Bama thinks? Especially considering the early signing period, I wonder if this would not be very difficult for anyone in his shoes?

Sure, it's tricky business. But, for Pruitt, Bama's interests and UT's interests do not conflict completely.

Obviously, UT needs Pruitt to work on staffing, holding on to their recruits and signing any he can in the early period.

However, Pruitt being a key coach in helping win another Natty would be a biggy on Pruitt's resume', which would help Pruitt with UT's recruiting going forward.

Pruitt will at least have the advantages of former UT HC Fulmer's help and Bama CoDC Tosh Lupoi's and Saban's help.

It'll be interesting for sure to see how the transiton plays out.

I have just heard that Pruitt is an A+ recruiter, and just seems like with the early signing period, and the pressures on Tennessee to play catch-up and finish strong in recruiting, that the new coach would need to be very active immediately to reel in a good class of recruits, and that some of those he may know from being active in recruiting at UA for the last couple years. Especially on the defense side of the ball... I am sure the Tennessee faithful are looking to be competitive next year right out of the box.
