It’s a ploy by Phil to let Pruitt coach in the CFP

He’s probably giving Pruitt a bonus to intentionally screw up in the playoffs. I hope that’s the case because that would be the ultimate F U to Bama from Phil and the Bama melt would be glorious.

It's obviously the move here. Phat Phil never makes a decision without trying to screw over Bammer

Pruitt agreeing to something that ridiculous would highlight exactly why it would be a horrific hire

It may not be that extreme but Phil def has an agenda. This is a horrible idea, it's bad for both parties.

Saban allowing Fulmer to call the shots? What’s this world coming to...

I am glad Pruitt is coaching in the playoffs. He will be distracted and not give 100% to Bama. Hopefully, its causes them to lose.

It's totally Pruitt and Saban's call. Fullmer has no leverage or ability to sabotage Bama.

No way Pruitt wants his own coaching to look bad on the CFP stage. Pruitt wants another Natty on his resume and does not want any damage to his potential to coach at Bama again someday.

Pruitt's going to UT to make and learn from his 1st HCing gig mistakes there.

So, from this moment on, who does Pruitt in his heart truly recruit for? And, does he pull a "Mullen", and do we start to hear about Bama Targets/Commits talking about Tennessee?
These coaching transitions are never simple are they?

They are complicated. Pruitt's a Bama man at heart. And it's doubtful any of Bama's top recruiting targets have any interest in going to UT. Also, I think Pruitt is smart enough to know anything significant he does to damage his relationship with Saban or burn bridges could hurt himself just as much if not more than it hurts Bama.

But as the newly signed Head Coach, would you not think Tennessee would expect him to put the best interests of Tennessee, above what Saban and Bama thinks? Especially considering the early signing period, I wonder if this would not be very difficult for anyone in his shoes?

It certainly screams of conflict of interest, but Kirby made the same trip and it turned out great for everyone.

Do you think the early signing period, and the fact that it took so long for Tennessee to select their coach, makes this situation different than Kirby's?

You mean like the fact that Alabama continues to win national titles?

If only there was a recent example to look to.
