Since you brought it up...I am curious. Can you name the years Tennessee won championships in football?

Please focus. We're making fun of 1939, not 1998. Save that for another thread.

I didn't say you brought up Tennessee. I said you brought up schools that claim fictional championships.

And you call me an idiot. wait. I apologize. Perhaps English is not your primary language.

Comprende?
Maybe French is your language? You have to help me out. I want to make this as easy on you as possible.

Fair question.
1942-Based on being consensus pick
1980-AP pick
2021-PLayoff champions
2022-Playoff Champions

Two reasons.
1. I don't feel the need to answer an idiot.
2. See reason number 1.

So, you either don't know or know your own school claims titles that they cannot defend. In short...hypocrisy.

Why is it when you paint people in a corner they always....ALWAYS resort to personal attacks? Is it to mask their own ignorance?

You are a more reasonable UT fan, then. Some claim 6. That was my point. Tennessee claims some dubious titles as well. Not as many as Alabama does, but still...

Thank you for admitting Alabama won National titles before 1939 as well as after.

If you believe in universal synchronization, it is an interesting argument.

In addition to the first post, TCU won in 1938, and A&M in 1939. TCU went to the NC game last year. A&M has a lot of talent, but a lot to prove as well. Can they do the same?

In addition, it actually has been 84 years!

BTW, my bet is definitely not. I think Fisher is washed up.

Tell me what "dubious" titles Alabama claims.

It is not Alabama's fault that someone who actually knows college football named Alabama the NC for that year.

Here is a fact, all of Alabama's NC winning teams played in a bowl at the end of the year.

For example.....1941

Are you saying that if a team gets selected by "someone" the it is a legit title?

What has that got to do with anything?

ETA
1965 could also be called into question.
ETAA
It should be noted that 1965 Alabama was named by the AP, though.
ETA
1973 could be called into question.

While I have to say 41 is not one I think Alabama should claim, I was not around then and have no idea why they were picked. However they were and it was by people who knew more about football than either one of us.

Honestly Alabama should claim 45 or 66 (although neither were AP.) It is the same as UGA's 42 title.

Before WWII there were many polls, and the AP was a regional one. AP became a national brand because of WWII due to the fact that other parts of the country picked them up for coverage of the war.

So before WWII you could say the same thing that "someone" (AP) selected the NC but was it legit title.

Not really. It appears as if it was by one group. Litkenhous. I have no problem if a school claims one in which they were consensus. (Majority) And, for the record, I really don't care how many Alabama or Alabama fans claim. take away any that somebody feels is incorrect and Alabama is still head and shoulders above everybody else.

I didn't look at 45 or 66, but Georgia's 42 title Georgia was consensus. Maybe Alabama was those years, too. I don't know.

I have seen people (not Alabama fans necessarily) claim they won a title because a regional newspaper picked them. That's why I questioned you. Again, if a majority of selectors award it, I can see it. Not if a small regional newspaper or some such picks a team. Just from what I checked on Alabama, I can see legit claims on all but two. 1941 and 1965.

ETA
Just looked at 1966, and yes, I could see a legit claim on that year, for Alabama, too.
ETAA
Honestly, for 1945 I would probably go with Army. Both teams were undefeated, but Army crushed everybody. Alabama had closer games. I know that is not the best criteria, but it's al I've got.
