Is UGA Considered An Elite Program

I've been living in Ga since 1990 and always wondered why the state flagship looks down upon GT's football program. On sportstalk radio, fans consistently talk up the Dawgs as if they have always been elite but are in a recession and will bounce back soon. Soon has never happened.

Part of the Big 6, but elite? I say no.

No. An elite program would not lose to Ga Tech as much and would certainly have a better record versus their arch rival Florida.

Georgia is a member of the big 6, possibly big7 if Tennessee is again included when the conference expands to 14 teams.

Understanding why UGA is considered an elite program is like trying to figure out how far out you can take pi.
They are an elite program but you're chasing your tail - g'luck with that.

Right now? Of course not. Historically? Depends on what you consider elite. All time we're about the 12th to 14th best program in history. That probably doesn't qualify as elite.
But we are a big 6 school and have more accolades than a shite ton of other schools.

Richt is 9-1 against them and we completely own the all time series.
Why don't you try to at least look like you have some idea of what you're talking about before posting.

We lead the all time series. I guess we should lead by more games. Sorry.

we don't. this is the worst thing you probably could have used as your argument

I would consider it a historically elite program. It is a ghost of its former self, but the sun does shine on a bulldawgs arse periodically so they should return soon.

FIFY.
If you are going to flame, do it right...

Auburn is more of an elite program in my opinion. There is NO excuse with all of that high school talent in the state of GA to not win a BCS title since it began in 1998.

Not sure where you get your lose to gt as much statement...9 of 10, 16 of 20, 23 of 30, 30 of 40 etc.
We're not an elite team historically or nationally like Bama, USC, OK, Mich, OSU, Neb. ND etc... but we're one notch below historically, with Tenn. Fla, FSU, Aub, PSU etc..

No.
But they should be one. Until they can beat UF a little more often and win the east, at the very least, they will never be considered an elite team.

i was talking about tech..uf has just been some type of mental thing, there have been a few just ugly games and at times florida just alot better as they were aginst everybody in the conference and I mean EVERYBODY!!! but there were a ton of games during UF's dominance of the series that UGA just beat themselves over and over... I'm not arguing that UGA is elite, there are only a handful of "elite.. national brands".... Bama, USC "the real one", Notre Dame (even though they suck), Michigan, Texas, UF, FSU, the U, and Ohio State.... and I know LSU fans are screaming dosen't make you an elite national brand if your honest with your selves... even though you are without question the BEST team this year. When you say elite I think of schools that get the benefit of the doubt by the "experts" and automtically get ranked just a little higher based on name alone.
