Possibly. Huge hype.

He's known for one major play.
Ehhh... what he did as a true freshman was pretty epic in the second half of that game...

The guy is good. Very good. But why couldnt he beat out Jalen for an entire year? Plays a great half of football = over-hyped for now. You guys crap all over Hurts and yet Tua didnt beat him out all year in practice. In my book, 4 months of practice is more of an indicator than 2 quarters. Over-hyped..for now...it is simply an opinion

I'm sure there are others and I'm not sure how much hype he got outside of Bama, but at least from an Alabama perspective he is definitely it.
Tua has already delivered on some of the Hype, hard to say he was "overhyped" this offseason when it hasn't even started yet.

He did, Saban just wasn't going to put in Tua unless it was absolutely necessary. Honestly, it's surprising he didn't get a series or two in the IB.

He threw an interception on a running play
He threw a TD to a player he wasn't throwing the ball too, saving a turnover.
He took a devastating sack on 1st down in OT, only to be bailed out by a blown coverage.
I'm not saying he is bad, and I certainly think he is a better passer than Hurts. But all those things happened exactly like I stated. He has only played a half of football. We will see how the season goes and if he is really as good as expected.
This is what false hope looks like.

Bad bad calls took the steam out of the Georgia offense
They got more bad calls in their favor than Bama got. Difference was Alabama overcame theirs. UGA just whined.

Like, for example, when auburn was beating Bama? Let me guess... Saban knew he didn't have to win that game.

No flag was thrown. If Ridley doesn't make the play, ball goes over to UGA
UGA got away with two blatants on that play. Bama still scored.

That's why it was perplexing. That was the first time he was well and truly needed. If I had to guess, Jalen's inability to mount a comeback in the IB influenced Saban's decision at halftime of the NCG.

That and I think Tua made huge strides in post-season practice. It happens with freshman a lot as during the season, its a weekly grind of looking at the opponents gameplan, setting up your gameplan, etc. In the bowl season practice they get a chance to sort of hit the reset button and put it all together working on fundamentals and such.
Also, up until the Iron Bowl, Jalen had done enough to put Bama ahead late in every game he had played, even when he hadn't played well. Seemed to have that clutch factor, came up big at the end against LSU and Miss State - even put bama up against Clemson. So it was a tough call to pull him in that one IMO.
Tua would have gone in at half time vs. Clemson if the defense hadn't shut them down IMO.

Nope. Tebow. DWI.

Well that makes sense also. The guy could be amazing when it's all said and done. He is fast and a great passer. He could also be a turnover machine because he is so talented and thinks he could make any play. Point is..Alabama would do well do slow down the hype. Team play and badass defense are their calling card. Not flashy qb's spinning out of sacks. My gut instinct says he must be prone to that kind of stuff in practice. Bama kicked GA's arse but that was more anout 2nd half defense in my opinion.

Oh my memory doesn't work that well. If so, he is hands down the correct answer.

You can't be overhyped until you do something to make the hype unwaranted. Season hasn't even started yet so there's no way he can be "overhyped" shite for all we know he could be "underhyped" this whole conversation is pointless until he plays some actual games.
