Tua is johnny manziel sans mental illness.

Except this one. Najee was held on the play after Tua released the ball. He would have been wide open. If Ridley didn't come in front and make a great grab it would have been a PI and first and 10.

He won’t always have the refs to keep him in it. Tyler Simmons was onsides. There was a blatant face mask on swift. Bad bad calls took the steam out of the Georgia offense.

He's known for one major play. That's it. I've never seen this much hype for a guy with 5 career TDs to his name.
There are some programs in the SEC, ones I will not name because they know who they are, who overhype every mediocre towheaded QB that passes through their program. Tua is somewhat overhyped at this juncture, no argument there, but at least he has a title ring. These other QBs from said nameless programs generally wouldn't know a title ring from their asses sacked to the ground.

How is winning a national championship not earning your hype?
You guys are in for a rude awakening. Bama players tend to pan out to their billing on the collegiate level at a much greater clip than the rest of the field.
Tua honestly is a lot better QB than even most Bama fans are letting on because they are modest.
There are not nearly enough superlatives to describe how special this kid is.

No. This guy was supposed to win the Heisman.

I still laugh at that backwards pass vs LSU.
I wonder what Waffle House he is working at?

Tua is getting a lot of hype but at least he's actually accomplished something of note, even if it was just 1 half of football, it was still a legendary half to win the national championship.
There have been a bunch of very hyped QB's who have way less of a resume than that.

He may be very, very good. He certainly looked good. He had a couple bad -- even terrible -- plays in the title game, but UGA had a great defense, so I'll cut him some slack. But the point people are making is that he really doesn't have the body of work to anoint his greatness just yet. Plenty of mediocre QBs have played out of their minds of a game or a half and then faded into obscurity. So people are saying Tua still has to show consistency before anyone can safely anoint him the Next Great Thing. It's not an unfair criterion, really.

But he did hit that wide open WR for TD against UGA. That's the GOAT test.
