They have an RPI of 58, two spots behind LSU and ahead of Vanderbilt, South Carolina and Missouri.

They have a strength of schedule ranking of 14.

Surprisingly yeah they’re pretty good. Good enough that a road loss to them is actually Q1.

The Dodgers have lost like 4 of their last 5 series. What's your point?

The state of Alabama figured out how to play baseball. In RPI Alabama has 2 teams in the top 10 (Alabama and Auburn); 3 teams in the top 30 (+ Jax State); 5 teams in the top 60 (+UAB and Troy); and 7 teams in the top 100 (+South Alabama and Samford).

I don’t know if that has ever happened before. For some reason there are just a lot of good teams in what has not traditionally been a huge baseball state (at least compared to football).

People will make hay of it yeah but yeah it’s just a “vibes” loss. Doesn’t scratch Bama in the metrics. It’s just a midweek loss against a good mid major on the road which amounts to jack shite in the grand scheme of things.

And yeah I love that all of our potential in state opponents these days aren’t the kind of teams that warrant that “cancelled for RPI reasons” bullshite. Just a state full of quality teams.

They've played a lot of good RPI midweek games

State
Alabama (2x)
UGA (2x)
Vanderbilt

5 of them have been on the road

They also played a 3 game series against Mercer who randomly has a top 50 RPI, a three game series with Southern Miss and a three game series against Texas St

But they're 14-11 against Q3/Q4 teams and 13-11 in the Sun Belt (the 6th best conference in the RPI), so I wouldn't say they're a good team

They have series wins against Campbell, Old Dominion, Arkansas St, ULL, and Marshall.

All of that said, them beating Alabama on a Tuesday doesn't mean anything bad for Alabama.

back in the 90s, Auburn/Alabama/USA were all good most years

in 1997, both Auburn and Alabama made it to Omaha and USA had LSU on the ropes in the regional. LSU had to beat USA twice to advance to Omaha

Auburn swept LSU last year. Guess we’re better than the champs…or not.

Yeah, sure thing. Braves got swept by the worst team in baseball in 2021 before going on their run and winning the WS. You legitimately can't field or hit.

Auburn must really suck to get swept by a bunch of bums.
