Is this what being a MS State fan feels like?

I have this weird sensation reading the boards this week with no expectations for LSU. I realize LSU is doomed this season, that we have an inept head coach, are being dominated in the trenches and cant move the ball (and that we just lost to Troy).
Something about watching UF fans try and troll LSU, fully knowing in their gut that they likely shouldn't be 3-1 feels slightly... good? I have no expectations, but I am living for the possible UF melt if someway, somehow LSU manages to pull off the upset in the swamp.
I guess what I am getting at with the MS comparison, is that it feels liberating to not really have expectations. Like sitting under the fan when you get out of a hot shower.

Haha no disrespect to MS State, BTW. Handily kicked our arse. I am talking about the mindset of the fanbase.

OP must not have been around for the Dinardo years...

No. We've had great runs. State fans don't know how that feels. We'll get our ship righted. State fans don't have that to look forward to.

This is what being a MS State fan felt like when we had Croom.
You guys are fricked for a few years. A few years assuming you guys make a good hire to replace Orgeron which I am skeptical about.

We have expectations. They are just realistic and not some fantasy. plus when we get the sickness... we have the only cure. and that is more cowbell. In fact, most of America should look at our expectations and apply that to their everyday lives. It is okay to not be Bama. You should strive for that level of success, but not everyone can be the next Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, or Nick Saban.

Croom seems to catch a lot of flak/criticism these days but I think it is not accurate or fair.
Looking back at 2004, State was on probation and the program was a dumpster fire in Sherrill’s last two years (2002-2003). Next, he had to purge the program about 20 talented but thug like players that were leftovers. So no wonder, he struggled 2004-06 though by 2006 , you could see progress even though the record was 3-9 (4 losses by 3 points that year). 2007 was a breakthrough year.
2008 without question was a tough year starting with upset loss to La Tech and ending with the loss horrific loss to OM.
Following that CDM came into a promising situation, the foundation had been set, the 2009 recruiting class was very good and he held on to it. To his credit, Mullen has built on that foundation.
But I just think Croom gets unfairly labeled when in reality he came into a program that was so bad it was looking up at Australia. Without a doubt he did a great job restoring the football program over the 5 years he was here and he left the program in much better shape than he found it in. I appreciate him for his efforts in that regard plus the fact he is a class act and represented our University well as the head coach during his time here.

Well for those of us around in the late 80s and 90s this is a familiar feeling.
I remember when we beat auburn and we rushed the field one year because it was such an amazing feat.
I remember when Saban got us to the Peach Bowl and we all went in droves like we had just won the national title. We took over Atlanta after that game drinking all the bars dry.
Quite frankly I wish I felt we had a team that could beat an SEC foe by 30 points like Miss State did to LSU this year.
No this is sadly a familiar feeling, you expect to lose every game, when you keep it close you celebrate, when you shockingly win you tear down goal posts and celebrate a bowl bid.
Its all good it really is a more peaceful life. It sucks but is a lot less stressful.
Edit - For an Arkansas fan makes a comment about LSU being a doormat, that is laughable.

The truth is the truth, regardless of the source.

On that notion, if LSU is a "traditional doormat" of the SEC, specifically, what does that make Arkansas?

I got your AD's email from threads off TR.
Told him to hang in there, he's doing a great job and has our full support.
Go Joe Go.

Starts a thread insulting MSU not only in the subject line but in the body of the OP, then claims no disrespect.
Basically you're admitting that LSU fans are slower than others to accept reality. Umm, congrats on being slow?

We have no idea what it is like to be highly over-rated at the beginning of each and every year. I think you are seeking out Texas and Notre Dame fans.
