Look Harsin isn't working, and doesn't have the recruiting chops to make it work, but in the year of our lord 2022 who DOES have what it takes for Auburn right now?

The timing could not be worse for whoever comes in. Let's just forget about the Dynasty in the West because, hilariously, that might be the least of Auburn's worries going forward because Saban is getting older and eventually has to retire. I think.

Auburn's bread and butter is getting their depth by recruiting primarily Georgia, it's what Pat Dye did and virtually every successful Auburn coach and that has never been more difficult. Georgia is in the budding phase of possible dynasty mode, or maybe not, but is currently recruiting like it wants to go on a 1980's Miami style run. REAL close to the Georgia line is Clemson who is also in the midst of their own dynastic run.

So Auburn replaces Harsin and goes out and gets somebody, but whoever that person is they are going to completely rethink the way Auburn recruits and I don't know how. Maybe you really do have to roll the dice with Coach Prime because doing what has worked for Auburn in the past 30 years is not going to work for the next decade minimum.

2012 looked pretty bad too. We've yet to fall to those depths yet but could be soon.

I don't see any light at the end of the tunnel at this point

If Auburn makes the right hire, it could find a lot of success recruiting Georgia. Alabama swept the best recruits in Alabama when Saban first arrived but has since expanded their recruiting footprint nationally, leaving more in-state recruits up for grabs. Georgia’s recruiting might go in the same direction if they continue in their strong run, leaving the door open for Auburn. Regardless, whoever takes over here will need to build much better relationships with high school head coaches in Alabama, Georgia and Florida than our current potato had.

Auburn does this seemingly twice a decade. A dumpster fire in the AD is old hat for them.

The barners decided to fire the AD this time. So now the upper-class kids can argue and fight it out without restraint. Should be a lot of fun.

You should be happy we were dumb enough to give Gus that extension in 2017 or else he might still be your coach!

College Football today is a quick recovery game. Before you had the limits of 25 scholarships and a period to have a new coaching staff introduce themselves to HS athletes. Today money talks with NIL and the transfer portal gets mature players in that can provide immediate help. That is why a new hire doesn't need an up-and-coming coach, but someone well known. LSU did it right last year and AU will do it this year.

This is true, it's easier than ever to build a roster now than ever in the past. As long as the school's Head of Compliance and Athletic Director do not place restraints on coaches operating with NIL. When the compliance staff throws up roadblocks for the coaching staff because they are afraid of not following NCAA guidelines to the point of hampering NIL, there will be problems.

Head of Compliance is now the acting AD, and he wants to keep the job. No roadblocks turning things around.

yes, it's gonna be a rough year.
I would also be surprised if Harsin isnt fired by the bye week. I think Auburn is already browsing off coaches.

Auburn also likes to try and find diamonds in the rough when it comes to coaching and looked how Harsin turned out. We need to cut that bullshite and find a good fuking coach that has a record of winning.

Auburn did not go to a bowl (1979 would have but were on probation). Record during those years was 33-32-1 and going
In all those losses was one to D2 Richmond Spiders and a Va Tech team that lost to William and Mary by 2 TD's.

Aubies had bead season but no stretch like that.
