yes I think he upgrades. (maybe UGA???)

I can definitely see him in Athens if Richt gets canned this year.

The most likely choices are UGA and Oregon. If State wins the west is there anyway Ohio State gives him a call?

I think Mullen said it best when he was hired. You don't come to coach in the SEC as a stepping stone to something else. You come because it's the best conference in the country

What are State fans thinking their temas will look like in 2012 & 2013? Has Mullen been recruiting well enough to field strong teams in those years?

Seems he might be looking to bolt after this year. Knowing he hasn't recruited lights out.

Outside of linebacker there isn't one position group that is not stronger than before Mullen got there.

Than I guess State will be good in 2012 & 2013. Don't know why he would leave unless he was offered the UGA job or something on that level.

as long as Mullen is at State I see him winning 6-7+ games a year. I think he will build a bigger and better version of what Rich Brooks did at UK.

You wish! Mullen isn't the kind of coach who takes shortcuts and likes to stand in someone else's shadow. He wantsto build something in STarkville before he plans on leaving

nothing like good old fashioned hero worship

Mullen will leave Starkville once he gets a top tier job offer.... such as UGA or Oregon

Until that happens he will be in Starkville

Dan Mullens first egg bowl I was looking for quotes from Dan Mullen and ran across this little gem. It's funny how times change so quickly.

State is gonna fall on their face this year, so I doubt anyone else will want to hire him.

we should make this a regular off season thread. Im pretty sure we had this same conversation during last season. Why is everyone so concerned about Mullen leaving State?

Because he is a young successful head coach at a non destination job

Based on State's history, I'd say he already has...

Why would he want to go to Georgia? If he doesnt win 10+ games then he gets fired. Dan Mullen would much rather take a team like Mississippi State to Atlanta than Georgia. Thats the reason he took the job because he felt like he could win. Watch interviews he say's it himself.
Dan Mullen speaks for himself

Oh lord. Yes, Nick Saban is scared shitless of Mullen. He's only outscored Mullen 61-13 in two years. The way his 2011 class went, and the way his 2012 class has started, I wouldn't be to optimistic, unless he is a better talent evaluator than everyone else, he'll have trouble winning at a high level consistently.

Wanna bet? He gets a better offer, he'll have his bags packed before you can say TSUN.
