I can understand that somewhat...but I don't really take what people say on these boards too seriously. I mean, I know I troll and argue with people sometimes just to make them think and see if they can prove what they say. I mean, I irritated a LOT of LSU fans talking about Cam Cameron, but i have nothing against LSU or Cameron. I mainly wanted to see if THEY liked Cameron because he was a good pick, or because they were TOLD he was a good pick by LSU. I'm sure some of the LSU fans absolutely hate me and/or Georgia because I did that, but I was mainly curious about if they knew what they were talking about. Seemed obvious to me that some fo them knew EXACTLY what they were talking about and checked carefully into him. Some others....not so much.

It would be more like you rooting for Florida I guess.
I understand what you are saying, but when Florida played for the Natty, I pulled for them. When we play them I want to beat them by 50 points. During the season I choose in conference games according to how it helps Ga....but bowl games? It's all SEC for me. I was just curious if most people felt the same. Seems pretty split, to me...but I think MOST people pull for other SEC teams except for their most hated rivals..

Yes.
I root for all SEC teams to win except if it would affect LSU's ranking or bowl possibilites.
And it's not just 'SEC pride', it's 'Southern' pride and also the fact that LSU's SEC schedule usually includes at least 4 or 5 Top 15 teams...which helps LSU's SOS and shows that to be in NC contention, you have to beat the best teams in the nation - which are usually right here in the SEC.

Why would there be Yankee pride...we won? I have USA pride. Beside, I do have some Oregon trail pride.

I don't subscribe to this unity bullshite

then why would Oregon fans cheer the beavers or vice versa?
Though you do have a point. Unlike the SEC, none of the other conferences have a history of banding together and fighting for home rule.

Maybe it's because we're new, but I pull for every SEC team when they play OOC. In my mind, losing OOC weakens the SEC which then weakens the team I pull for. Even if I had deep hatred for another school, I'd still be selfish enough to want them to do good OOC so that when my team beat them, it meant more instead of less.

Same here except with A&M of course.
Love this conference. The passion and realism of its' fans is a breath of fresh air. Don't get me wrong, some of you are dicks, but I am too.
On a side note, one of my biggest fears is that we get to the national championship game and blow it, thus ending the streak.

Way back in the day (around 2011) I always pulled for Big 12 teams OOC - except kansas (frick them). I think most people I know did the same. You want your conference to look good to make your team look better with conference wins (or losses).

Don't worry. I'm sure you'll blow it way before that.

I like pulling for the smaller SEC schools like OM, MSU, and Vandy because they are not traditional powerhouses and it's nice seeing them do well. Other than that I never got why people would pull for their rivals' OOC or bowl games. If LSU or A&M lost I wouldn't be embarrassed, as long as Bama is still kicking arse. This "SEC unity" sounds stupid and a little cult like to me. Count me out.

It is a southern pride thing. Other people just don't get it...

Very rarely do I root for rivals. Since the BCS streak began I've only rooted for the SEC team in 2007 and 2009. 2011 I just didnt care. Only time I root for any rival is of it somehow benefits Georgia, otherwise frick the bastards.

My sentiments exactly. Although, picking who to root for when Florida played Oklahoma was the hardest decision of my life. I think I hoped for every player to get hit like that WR Major Wright lit up.

SEC pride is a requirement because the SEC by large plays OOC cupcakes. It then becomes necessary for the argument that playing in the SEC is the toughest conference in the country.
WTF are you talking about. "by large?" I assume you meant "by and large" which would still be incorrect.
Don't fall for the B1G, PAC 12, ACC myth.
The SEC plays a plenty tough OOC schedule, "by and large."
