The 11 AM start wasn’t popular with either fan base. I believe this game was put at 11 so that it could dominate that time slot.

In general, Fox put their prime game in that time slot for that same reason, not that OU/TX was always on Fox.

Because of that, OU ended up playing most of their games at 11. Texas also played a disproportional number of games at 11.

That was one of our complaints with the Big 12. Both schools were tired of playing those early games week after week. Not only was it not great for fans but it was bad for businesses in Norman and Austin.

All you need to know the answer to this is to ask each of them who they root for when they play us.

Texas roots for OU when OU plays A&M.

I don't know about that, but I can guarantee that OU fans are not rooting for Texas against A&M with the sole exception being if the outcome of the game somehow determines whether OU gets a slot in the SEC CCG and even then it would require copious amounts of alcohol to do.

Texas roots for justice to be served. Whatever that may mean.

It usually means the louder and prouder mouth needs a beatdown. Rival or not.

The only reason I can see SEC fans wanting to watch this game is to see uppity Texas get their arse kicked. Not that Oklahoma is any more popular but at least they haven’t acted like UTa since joining the SEC and this board.
Guarantee we would have far less hate from the rant if we had joined the SEC 3 years ago (after aggy notified the world) when Sark was just getting started and making the best of a somewhat depleted roster. The Texas fans on here would'nt be much different, (we have a lot that love to troll, even each other on some boards) but we would be hovering around the middle of the SEC hierarchy and certainly not ranked #1.

I think you're spot on.

So this isn't a boast, although I know some will think it so and downvote me, but Texas isn't liked because the school is wealthy and is seen to represent its self-interest vigorously. If we were someone like Texas Tech and just happy to be here, no other fanbase would have an issue with us. Instead, we're the big mouth braggarts that "destroyed two different conferences".

It's not even worth arguing with other fans about, because they aren't interested in real facts. They just want to "hate". It's ok to me because it doesn't really matter in the end. I'm just happy that Texas is in the SEC with our self-inflicted shackles gone.

People don’t realize 11am games are killer for recruiting. A majority of HS games are played Fri nights and trying to make a college game visit was horrible for early games.

I heard an explanation from a Texas AD rep that one of the reasons for the move was because of Texas heat.

This Saturday at 2:30 PM expects to be a scorcher.

I’d rather you both tie zero to zero. If A&M wins, I console myself by saying at least the TX team won.

They both like each other because they took turns beating the shite out of everyone else in those weak arse conferences. The hate is fake. Aggies are right in this one

Texas fans are also all too white collar or Indian subcontinent to care

was a big rivalry LONG before the Big12 was formed.
The first game between Texas and Oklahoma was played in 1900. Texas won that game 28-2 and the two teams have played each other annually ever since, excluding in 1918, 1920, 1921, and 1924-1928.

In 2019, the intensity of the rivalry was illustrated perfectly by then-Texas head coach Tom Herman's first memory of the game. Herman told reporters his first memory depicting the sheer intensity of UT versus OU was as a grad assistant. He said he remembered looking out the window of the Texas bus to see an 80-year-old woman and an 8-year-old boy both giving him the double bird.

Why do you care what others think? Game is important to tex and ou fans. That's really all that matters. Do you watch the iron bowl? I sure don't and I doubt they give a shite.
