Darell Royal and Texas were the epitome of having 3 crappy or mediocre seasons and then a good one. He did this over and over. He came into Texas in 1957 and took about 4 years . And then had a descent team in 61. He then had about a 4 year run with some good squads up to 64. He then goes off the rails for a few years until 68,69,70, in 1971 he has a good year followed by 72. In 1973 it goes off the rails again with a absolute disaster in 76 followed by a good year in 1977.

Are you saying he sucked or what? This is absolutely stupid. 11 conference titles in 20 years at Texas. Helped usher in the wishbone attack. 11 top 10 finishes in 20 years. You say off the rails is an 8-4 season? That era was before people scheduled rent a wins against the FCS.

He won over 76% of his games at UT. GTFO with this.
