Heard it being talked about on the Finebaum Show today and I agree. Texas hasn’t been good lately, but have they ever really been good? They have 4 Natty’s and only 1 in the modern era of college football. They also only have 3 Big XII titles and 2 Heismans. They were also awful in the 80s and 90s. Texas talks like they’re a blue blood and most people accept them as one. But why? Because they’re Texas and they’re supposed to like and be good at football? Texas might be the most historically overrated program in college football.

They really aren’t. Their basketball team is in a major hole right now. Herman is on the hot seat too.

Some may argue that the Longhorns college football pedigree is overblown, but it is important to note that Texas has only suffered only 16 losing seasons in its 125-plus year history

That's why and pretty much entails your point and the reason they are considered one.
The reason people prop the up now is all about the money they make. They're the most valuable program in the country.

Texas was dominant in the 60's and 70's, but they haven't been the same since.

Texas was a big fish in small pond in the SWC.Their recruiting classes were deep and ready to go a year or two in advance.

Their two deep could win most of their games.Yet they underachieved.

My guess is they became comfortable in conference and when they faced the big dogs in the country they got that butt beat.

texas wants a nest on the ground during the regular season,it's not happening anymore. They suck now and it pleases me.

I'd say that they're a blue blood, but that doesn't really mean anything in CFB today. Michigan, Nebraska, and ND are all Blue Bloods, and we see how that's working for them.

Texas main problem is their arrogance and entitlement. They view themselves as an elite program, which they are not. The Longhorns were an elite program pre 70s. However, they've only one won NC in the past 50 years. In fact, Texas probably isn't even a top 10 program in the past 50 years. Their Blue Blood status comes from things done 50 or more years ago. They're no Bama, OU, Ohio State, or USC. Although, they love to think of themselves that way.

being a blue blood means having enough money and political sway with the (member owned) NCAA to get away with more cheating than the average school.

I would say Tejas is a blue blood.

You should try living around them.
They are in the tier of Notre Dame and USC historically if you ask them.

Just because lesser schools whine about you doesn't mean you're a blue blood.

It means you just have bluer blood than some hayseed motherfrickers.
