They need to make the SECCG a play-in game for the lower seeded sec teams to make the playoffs once they move to a set number of teams from each conference

Losing key starters for the playoffs is the main point. Ex: A month of rest didn't give Georgia their starting QB back

Wait, I thought beating Texas was a bigger deal to A&M than winning a championship. At least that’s what my one Horn friend told me.

where do you guys come up with this shite?

Tell me you don’t understand CFB without telling me you don’t understand CFB.

Which is more desirable:

1) play a game against a very physical UGA or Bama team in a neutral site after a long season that has a high degree of injury and exposing weaknesses, followed by a very long layoff only to play another strong team in a neutral site that hasn’t had a long layoff since their last game.

2) skip a tough game against arguably the best SEC team, have the same length of a long layoff but play the worst team in the playoff at home prior to the tougher neutral site games getting started (likely resting starters in 4th Q and is more of tuneup game for the best P4 teams…see Ole Miss/Tulane just this year, Oregon/Liberty, etc.)

Most convincing argument. There must always be a Texas 8-4. It's simply in Austin this year

we're going to ignore that you'd just be replacing the SECCG with a first round game (no bye)?

we're going to ignore the fact that they'd be playing for an SEC championship in this case? Something they have never won? Lol.

In a pure football calculus, a loss to t.u. is the outcome that likely helps Texas A&M most.
This year’s contest is the rare rivalry game where losing may ultimately be the strategic win.

Many Ags are legitimately torn … and why a decent chunk won’t lose much sleep over either result.
There’s even a faction of (looney) Ags who who are bummed not to have the chance to host a CFP game at Kyle Field (vs a bye).

Personally… I prefer the payback/revenge route.

Your calculation is logical.

But it just doesn’t jive with where a lot of Aggies are mentally right now.

However, if both A&M wins, and Bama wins, then that’s the matchup in the SEC championship game.

I think if A&M loses a close one they would get bumped to the 5 seed. The 5 seed MAY be the best spot. You get to host a home game against Tulane? James Madison? Navy? Yea sign me up for that versus going to battle against UGA or Bama.

Not a good comeback when we’re talking about what’s best for playoff success and your attack was more than a statement about just A&M. Pretty sad effort to recover from your dumb take

Both teams want this. Hill will play with a broken hand. My guess is Moss will play as well. These kids for the most part grew up playing against one another.

I think the A&M team would riot if Elko sat the starters short of a blowout

That’s because A&M has to win this game for validation purposes and to save their good season. They don’t really have any skins on the wall this year or in their trophy case. UGA is a totally different story. I’m rooting for Bama and A&M if I’m them.

No Aggie fans will answer the question about how they will feel if they lose the next 2 to end their season. It’s certainly a possibility

Yes, they lose a bye but play a nobody at Kyle Field.

Unless the coach is purposefully throwing the game due to resting starters and everyone knows it, Aggies need this for their confidence. They’ve played almost no one the whole season (are we really counting ND whose best win is a 3 losses USC). The damage to the teams and fans psyche of losing this game could be bad.

1) tell me where this thread is about the playoffs?
The OP asked if it's better for A&M to lose this game. Not specific to playoffs. So excuse me for taking the SECCG in consideration.

2) Let's stick to your playoff shite.
You're saying

R1) Tulane or whatever
R2) Georgia
R3) Ohio St (in semi final)
R4) Final

Is a better option than

Oregon
Indiana
Ohio State (in final)

Lol

OK, maybe you’re not being logical.

It doesn’t take a genius to realize that 11 wins is already three more wins than eight and four. So that’s how Aggie’s feel. But as competitors, we want to win as much as possible.

You don’t have to convince me.
I’ll never hope for a scenario where those fools in Austin beat us—regardless of how much it helps us on anyone’s spreadsheet.

If you are just focused on a natty, missing the sec ccg and getting the 5 seed might be easier than playing from a health perspective. Also Texas and UGA last year if it was fun playing that game but we beat each other up
