Louisiana is proof of this.

Literally nobody actually likes it there, but few don't have at least a few really good memories of it.

In all seriousness, if all you've come across is shopping centers, I'd advise you to hit some backroads outside of your neighborhood. Apart from glaciers, Texas has--quite literally-- something for everyone. Check it out.
