You must not have watched us play this year. We will only throw the ball his direction 3 times max. And please don't come to me saying that he "shut down" Dural or Dupree after the game when we don't throw his direction once. Every nickle corner we have played this year has "shut down" Trey Quinn
.

I don't think you'll hear me say anything like that even if y'all throw his way every third down. I've watched every SEC matchup plus NMST.(don't ask why I'm a cfb addict I guess)

We switch coverages a lot. Lots of combos and looks. Mostly we play boundary and not man because the DLine has been solid.
Do you blitz often or do you normally just apply pressure with the Dline? And when you do blitz is it successful?
We get no pass rush from the Dline and it kills us. We are forced to bring pressure, but Chavis' defense might be more prehistoric than our offense. It feels like we have maybe have 3 blitz packages and they all involve a nickle or safety coming around the outside.

We rush 4 pretty much every down... 2 deep safety look... We've been playing less man lately in the secondary but I look for that to change this game.. Your WRs are young in spots so we'll press more and make them show they can fight their way open... Tony Conner will finish with double digit tackles... He's a tough matchup for you guys.

It depends. We run blitzed Alabama and Yeldon made us pay a few times. Against A&M we just rushed three or four and let our DLine do the damage. Womack our DC mixes up looks a lot. Multiple and versatile is what they do best.
The DLine situation for LSU is perplexing. I can't remember a time when y'all didn't have two monsters in the middle. Chavis' scheme looks worse because of it. Also Welter goes without saying.

You hinted at what came to my mind reading your post. I'm just stereotyping your team, but if I'm correct, your defensive line is causing havoc on qbs and someone, maybe this guy, is taking advantage of it.
If I'm wrong and he's making plays on his own then fill me in. TIA

Welter is gone for the better part of two games and beckwith is improving fast. Fwiw

A mix of both. Some are errant throws where he finds himself in good position. Others, like the Bama clincher, are due to tremendous ball skills.

Not really. The interceptions against Tennessee he was in perfect coverage and actually got interfered with on the under throw. The INT to end the Bama game was pure athleticism plain and simple. So it's a combination of both rush and coverage which is why our defense has been so good.

I have a funny feeling dural will be bracketed all game so I sure hope Jennings is accurate.

Depends on your look really. If y'all come out in I form with lined up tight ends you won't see many brackets at least not initially. They'll walk Conner close to the line and trust the safeties to be disciplined. If you line up wide then yes you'll see it and he won't run untouched like he did against Florida( how do you not put one hand on him on third and long Jesus)

I'd be shocked if we don't play your team this Saturday like we have played Bama in the last 3-4 years. We are going to run and play for field position.
I doubt you have deep safeties when we bring 10 players into the box ourselves on offense.

You make a solid arguement

You doubt it? We have a stacked secondary
There is no doubt... Ole miss has three first rounders in the secondary this year.
Ole miss is the superior secondary.
( Prewitt, Golson, Connor)

Arkansas is 0-16 in their last 16 SEC matches....

Three first rounders? In the secondary? That are draft eligible this year? The combine is based on potential are their measurables THAT extraordinary?
Posted on 10/22/14 at 1:48 am to BigEdLSU
Did I say eligible this year? No you are putting words in my mouth. Connor will be eligible next year. But will be 1 st rounder
And prewitt is going to be 2 time all American first rounder and golson could play his way there.
You have back tracked on your LSU elite secondary statement this entire thread.
I understand homerism and all but you should watch a few more Ole miss games if you believe that.
LSU has had great secondary's in the past ill give you that... And this one may be good down the road.. But this year these two secondary's....its ole miss easily.
