Means I was stupid enough to be somewhere I should not have been.
So a CIB is for actual infantry MOS's, and the CAB signifies the same thing for everyone else?
Thanks, that's new to me (then again, I was Air Force and Navy, so what do I know?)

Why does Airborne not rate the CIB instead of the CAB? Just curious as I am not to familiar with the Army. Like the patch but never seen it on a uniform. We received the CAR but it is a ribbon/medal for dress.
Thanks for your service

I don't think that I'd put the CIB and the CAB in the same category... but that's just my from the the enlisted side.
Thank you Wolfhound45, and others, for your service.

You don't like Coloneling? What about Generaling? Looks like you didn't kiss enough butt to make General?

Combat infantryman badge (CIB) for infantry or special forces, combat medical badge (CMB) for medical personnel "assigned or attached to a ground combat arms unit of brigade or smaller size which provides medical support during any period in which the unit was engaged in ground combat" and the combat action badge (CAB) for everyone else (children of a lesser God I like to say).
So a CIB is for actual infantry MOS's, and the CAB signifies the same thing for everyone else?
I was medical (retired last year) but was not serving in support of combat forces (infantry or special forces) when I came under fire. Again, I was just stupid and they rewarded me with a badge for it.
