You honestly didn't know who would win, but SOMEONE would, and they'd roll the non-SEC challengers. Those were high times indeed.
I wish Alabama would have joined the crowd, but not dominated it.
I think we are getting pretty close to that situation with Alabama, Georgia and very soon A&M and LSU again.

Don't care to spend 3 1/2 hours watching a football game. Basketball is 2 hours and quick paced.
Yeah but most people do especially during the regular season. Its the reason almost nobody watches CBB during the regular season.
March Madness and the revenue made from it,almost fuels the entire sport.

Not everybody thinks the way you think.

Case in point, OP cites less than 8% of teams have won national championships in last 13 ish years.
Less than 8% of schools in 13-years is the argument made.
Not sure if any counter point is needed, as OP did such a great job of cancelling their own argument.
Or, rather, the 92% of teams who DID NOT compete for a championship over the period of time that requires no less than 2 or 3 U.S. presidents...ahhh...nevermind.
If you think only 8% of teams winning the title in a decade is bad I've got bad news about college baseball and college football.
Alabama is on an insane run that hasn't happened in the modern era of college football. UCLA did it in basketball in the 60s-70s. The Yankees did in baseball in the 90s. The Cowboys did it in the 90s. The Bulls did it in the 90s. The Patriots did it in the 2000s.
And, in reality, Alabama has only won 1 of the last 4 titles. The last 4 seasons have had 4 different champions (Clemson, LSU, Alabama, Georgia). You are always going to have a group of teams that are in contention every year - that's always been the case.

This is funny. He is talking about a much larger group of people, and you bring up an exception to the rule, a single state.
I know all you people like to do is argue with each other, but he was sort of referring specifically to me, even with the comment about football being popular.
I don't care what's popular. I know what I like to watch. Thanks.
Maybe you should watch soccer (football). It's the most popular sport in the world. America can't be the exception to the rule, a single country.... see how that works?
People like what they like. Does it bother you for some reason that I like basketball more than football? You seem to be attempting to justify a defense against my position.

What are you even arguing about? Watch what you want to watch, and I'll do the same.

Several old traditional owners won't sniff a NC any time soon.
Nebraska,Tennessee,Penn State,FSU,Miami,Michigan and even ND fall into the category. And you won't see a school come from out of no where like Miami or Pitt did in the late 70's early 80's to become a national power.
This supports my point earlier. Alabama's success did not make these teams worse, their leadership and coaches did. The answer to their problems is not for Alabama to get worse, it's for them to get better, which has nothing to do with Saban except maybe to consider using him as a model for how to do it. And BTW, you could have added Alabama to that list between Bryant and Stallings and again between Stallings and Saban.

I do and sometimes I get lucky and both my teams play back to back on a fall Saturday

Second, Alabama has all five stars. No, they dont. Bama has a team of 3 and 4 stars and a handful of 5 stars.
This. Less than 10% of Bama's roster is 5 stars and 99 times of out 100 they are not replacing an injured 5 star starter with another 5 star. Also, when injuries occur, there is a reason one player is starting over another and opposing fans act like the reserve player coming off the bench will be just as or more productive than the starter. Blind, ignorant arguments.

I understand personal preference, but have a hard time believing an AU fan is drawn more to CBB than CFB but whatever. I will tell you that CBB is a side show to the powers that be at that school. I would argue with the one and done and transfer rules, CBB was ruined long before CFB. The tournament is fun to watch but outside of that, the majority of the nation is not paying attention. In the South (where AU is located) there are infinitely more eyeballs on TV screens on a Saturday in the Fall than a random Saturday in January or February.

Go back to your shitty big 12 board you SEC wanna-be. You look sad and desperate my posting so much here. At least Oklahoma fans have pride.
Texas football is a joke. Vols would boat race them. Only two things come from Texas...

Also, basketball is more has morr competitive games.
No fun watching a team beat another team 48-7. Happens way too often in football. Close games are fun of coyrse, but that doesn't happen often.
