Yea, my son is a kicker. Crazy position to find a home, they don’t need you unless they need you.
I thought he had an offer from Arkansas.. and I thought he had accepted it? Did something change or did I screw that all up in my head?
I think it's badass that walk-on's can get enough NIL to pay for school now.
Food for thought: Bert Auburn, our kicker, wasn't on scholarship, but I was told that he got enough in NIL to cover his school plus some extra.. It is my understanding that he may have even requested this from the coaches in order to help the team.. ie it opens another spot on the 85..
and then this happened about a week ago..
My advice: Perhaps he should approach his favorite team with this same approach.. and tell them that he is wiling to be a PWO if they will take care of his school, etc. I think this would be very attractive to a coach. And as a bonus, he gets to pick the team he really wants to play for.. and if he feels less-than because he isn't on scholarship, he can simply say.. I offered to be a PWO to help the team.
Also, scholarships these days are only good for 1 year, so I don't really see the downside to going this route.. just my two cents.. take it or leave it.. congrats to your son to even being able to have an opportunity like this..

Has Ole Miss and Arkansas scholarship offers, committed to the latter.
If you’re invited to private kicking session at an SEC school you go though…coaches change teams so much, staffs get fired, analyst move…you really have no idea where people will end up…impress everyone and see what happens.

If he could choose any school in the country, where would he go? Have you brainwashed him like a good dad?

He liked LSU when he was younger, and they had Cade York…but he hasn’t kicked there in years. Last year we visited 5 SEC schools and LSU wasn’t one.
Think he has an Auburn shirt on right now. Lol.

Is Steve Sarkisian that bad of a recruiter
no one wants to play for a coach who eats his boogers.
It's as simple as that.

In a day and age with June recruiting rankings mean less than they ever have, this post was needed.

It seems really strange - almost suspicious that schools like Clemson, and especially Auburn are outrecruiting these big-money Texas schools like UT and TA&M .
It's June and things will change a lot in the next 6 months.

Traditional recruiting rankings are overblow and almost meaningless in today's world. What one really must look at now are 2 things. Transfer Portal + recruiting rankings and the overall talent composite.

NIL totally overblown.
I mean except for the fact that college sports no longer really exist now and have been replaced with minor league pro sports only without salary caps and with 100% unrestricted free agency that not even the NFL, MLB and NBA have.
Other than that...sure, totally overblown.

I don't know, but I do know it's fricking June.

It’s NIL plus the Hookers that get results in recruiting so Hugh freeze owns the recruiting landscape and other programs just visit.
