I saw a rumor yesterday saying he was second string. Is Onterio starting?

He's still at practice. I think either one has to be officially named "starter". OM is a junior so I guess they gave it to the older of the two.

He was listed as #2 on the two-deep for some reason. But he is the feature back. I think its just an effort by the coaches to give onterrio confidence in himself as an everydown back or something. But unless the coaches know something we dont, which isnt all that far fetched, dyer is our #1 back....not Omac

We don't really have a starter. McCalebb and Dyer are costarters. It just depends on the formation we're in for the first play. Dyer "started" against Bama, and then McCalebb "started" in the National Championship

he's not playing at all this year. NCAA trouble.

ETA: Death Penalty is Probable

Statistically Onterio was the better back last season. He didn’t have as many rushing yards or touches as Dyer but he averaged more yards per game (8.5-6.0) and had 9 touchdowns compared to Dyers 5. I’m sure that will drastically change with Cam Newton’s 264 touches and 20 rushing touchdowns not being a factor this year.

I don't think it matters who is considered the starter. Dyer is the #1 back, McCalebb is the #2 back, Mason is the #3 back, and Morgan will more than likely be the #4 back when the season starts. He'll get garbage time carries like Davis Hooper did last season.

Amazing how many Bama people are concerned about this. Ive seen it posted on 4 different sites. All by bama posters.

Dont get too excited. Mike is going to play.

I think you will find that it is more shock than anything else, especially with the way you aubbies have pumped up Dyer (and I am not saying that isn't warranted) this off-season.

I think he is saying Mikes name was not first on the list of two that are usually in the game at the same time

Basically meaning, they are bored and this was something to talk about

Well Dyer did get almost as many yards on the ground in one year as Trent Richardson has gotten in two years.

I didn't bring it up, I am just saying, everyone expected Dyer to be the clear starter.. especially with his name occasionally being mentioned in preseason Heisman talks (although not much). I think most people just saw it as a forgone conclusion that he would be the starter.. and when he wasn't, people apparently thought something was up.

You got it. Regardless, 8.5 ypc is sick.

If we run up the middle on the first play of the game, Dyer will be "starting". A starter at RB for Auburn has little meaning, as both Dyer and McCalebb will get carries, just on different types of runs usually
