They'll make the tourney and lose the first game. LSU doesn't even try on defense. It's not the scheme, they just don't give a shite on the defensive end.

I don't think they are on the bubble but they are staring down the barrel at getting the dreaded 8 seed. It won't be completely horrible this year because they won't be getting shipped off to North Carolina to play Duke in a game being held ten miles from their campus... but you probably don't want to see a 1 seed in your second game.

I mean, it’s literally just a fact that this game hurts LSU’s resume big time.

It should, but it probably won't.

Thankfully it's our only "bad loss" so far according to the net rankings.

Is a Q2 loss even really a "bad" loss in that context?

Yes. A Q2 loss is bad. Especially when it was a blowout.

If LSU doesn't start playing better down the stretch this conversation is extremely relevant. It isn't like the SEC is acknowledged as some kind of bastion of college basketball

They better start playing better or they are anything but a lock

They'd have to lose out (Ark, Vandy, 1st SECT game) to not be a lock.

The chances of them losing out aren't exactly terrible. Arkansas is going to race them.

Not back on the bubble, but we can't afford to lose the last two games.

Thanks for the jinx. They will lose 2/3 and will be knocked out.

It was a rhetorical question. That Q2 loss dropped LSU all the way from 28 in the NET rankings to 29, so in the context of NET rankings, which is why I specified it the way I did, no it really wasn't that bad of a loss. It's also their only Q2 or worse loss on the season. 8 teams above LSU in the NET rankings have 2 or more Q2 or worse losses, 10 more teams have 1 Q2 or worse loss. So, if you want to do the math on that, of the 28 teams ranked 1-28 in NET, only 10 teams don't have a Q2 or worse loss on the season.
