USC and Miami should be ranked close together. I'm fine putting them both where USC is, or both around where Miami is. But those two are jobs that can be absolutely stellar if you get them rolling.

His big accomplishment was losing a BCS National Championship to Nick Saban and Alabama like everybody else was losing to. Whether you like him or not he was the winningest active coach when LSU fired him.

Win % means nothing without context. He did it on easy schedules while at a blue blood.

What about all those lame coaches at Bama before Saban? You only got him because Rich Rod turned Bama down.

You are forgetting Steve Spurrier also turned Alabama down before Rich Rod in favor of South Carolina. Does the mean South Carolina is a better job?

So like I said before, I don't even know how you can rank a job correctly because it's often times based on a coaches own personal wants/needs and the timing. At that time, Alabama was recovering from NCAA troubles. I was happy with ANY coach that didn't get us in more NCAA trouble and didn't embarrass us off the field.

Yet some LSU fans are sure as sure can be that LSU is a top5 job.

And Saban was not the GOAT when Alabama hired him. He had the 1 NC. All I ever hoped for out of him was a single NC. He become the GOAT while at Alabama. So did Bear.

From 1979 to 2009 Bama only had 1 NC. That's relatively shocking considering how we think of Bama today. Most of your success is attributed to two men. He'll, Bama might still be wandering in the desert if LSU hadn't brought Saban to the SEC or he simply stayed in the NFL.

5 Coaches have won national championships at Alabama.

And…. We are right behind you with 4.
Paul Dietzel
Nick Saban
Les Miles
Ed Orgeron

Very, very few places have everything in place, and all the resources needed, that allow multiple coaches to win a National Championship.

This is what makes LSU a Top 5 job.

After reading some of the things you posted, I wouldn't pay you at all for your opinion.

You have 4 national championships total. That is not top5.

And I'm not saying LSU is a bad job or anything. But top5? I don't see the evidence.

They don't get paid for their opinions. They get paid to read a script/narrative. If they gave you their real opinions you'd hate them and change the channel.

That's why they always hype up players and teams no matter what. Which is what people like you want, aka - what you would pay for. Someone to lie and lick your balls.

You're a top5 coaching job the same way we have 2 or 3 generational talents every year.

There is a reason I don't watch any of that shite. I post on message boards like this so I can hear real opinions, even if I disagree with them.

3 total

And you somehow think UGA is a top 5 job?

Does anyone besides Alabama and Miami have more than 3 in that time period? I don't think there are more than 5 programs who can top that over 40 years. LSU, Florida, Florida State, Ohio State all have 3 as well

Texas above LSU LMFAO

I’ll bite.

On paper Tx should be a better job than LSU, but they never can seem to put it together.

Lord knows LSU has been here before, but UTx is in their toxic politics era of football. Something is holding them back from being what they should be.

We can nitpick any program's hires.

Alabama hired a first time head coach in Mike Shula.

Nick brought us back from obscurity almost immediately, with a raging fury. Dinardo laid some great groundwork tbh, but we could all see he was destined for greatness.

Nobody even questioned it & no LSU fan wanted to see him go when the Dolphins came calling.

They hired a former Alabama player because it was AFTER A day(spring practice) because we had to fire Mike Price before he even coached a game.

And this was also during the middle of getting hit by NCAA sanctions which was why Fran left to begin with.

And Shula was the right man for the job at the time. Kept us mostly clean, dealt with the sanctions and made it a better job to land someone like Saban.

So like I said before, how can you say something is a top5 job when it really depends on the coach and timing. And none of you can point out to what it is that makes LSU a top5 job.

Multiple people have.

And LSU was under investigation when O was hired and had sanctions when BK was hired.

ETA I do agree with you that people make too much of ranking jobs when it only matters what the coach thinks
