Without question, Munson's the greatest college football announcer of all time! Not even close!!

John Ward. The consummate professional, the voice of the Tennessee Vols. Munson was entertaining, a clueless fan in the booth that has 2 calls that get repeated ad nausium.

Ward was an old school announcer, a professional that loved the game and loved the Vols that inspired generations.

Munson was fun and lived and died with each game but rarely knew what was happening.

Munson is good, no question.

That said, that is one of the worst "presumably professional, for sale" paintings I've ever seen. It looks like something from a middle school art exhibit on parent-teacher night.

Tide fan here, but I have to admit he was the best I've heard. Living in Marietta, I used to tune in to UGA games just to listen to Munson. GOAT

The guy called college football games for 50+ years and you think he didn't know what was happening. That's rich.

He was a dumb RED from Minnesota that didn’t care about Georgia and that’s OK

Did you listen to him? If he couldn’t say Hunker down you hairy dogs, just one more time, he literally had nothing to say. He was funny and entertaining but rarely knew what was happening or couldn’t convey it very well.

When Ward was calling you actually knew what was happening on the field.

Ward was b...o...r...i...n...g and a f...a...r...t. Just like Tennessee is. And, at least Munson could SPELL!

What a bunch of horseshite. He did that ONE time vs Auburn in the early 80's. Had nothing to do with "nothing to say"

He was a superstitious guy and it was the reason he repeated it on consecutive defensive plays vs Auburn.

It means a heck of a lot more than being a Georgetown fan. Really? You're really dredging the bottom of the comode.

Why would he live in a place and college town if "he didn't care about Georgia?"

Such a typical,dumbass Sand comment.

WTF does being from Minnesota have to do with anything?

It wasnt that Munson was clueless at all, he just called the game from an emotional perspective and let his color guy Scott Howard fill in the details. I thought Munson was very good at understanding he moment and delivering it perfectly. I wasnt a UGA fan but Munson was worth the listen.

Now, who WAS clueless was "Loran whadayagot?" on the sidelines. It would be in the heat of the moment and Loran is down there interviewing some past UGA tennis player or something completely irrelevant. It was pretty funny actually.

What was he going to do? He was perfect for UGA and most other places he doesn’t work out.

My personal favorite from 2003....

Tonight, the Dogs faced a bigger, stronger, faster team in LSU.

Holy Smokes, I loved Paul Eells growing up when he did Vanderbilt games on WSM 650a.m. "WSM Nashville,Tennessee. The 50,000 + watt voice of the National Life and Accident Insurance Company. The final score from Memorial Gymnasium, Vanderbilt 77, the Tennessee Volunteers 66.We'll have more on the wrap up after this word from Beamon Bottling and Haury and Smith."

I always thought Tech's radio broadcaster, Al Ciraldo was pretty entertaing too. One game was played in a heavy rainstorm and Ciraldo said "and the Tech cheerleaders look like a bunch of skinned rabbits".
