If Kiffin gets paid 16 million a year then Saban should raise hell with Alabama that he didn’t get paid like that.

If he’s getting 16 million Kirby Smart is worth 45 million.

Had to pay bills mane and this was before it got worse after Katrina. It really is a blighted, depressing place to have to live. The chemical plants offer a great opportunity for career success but the trade off is now no longer worth it.

1. That number is ludicrous on its face.

2. Did Moscona explain how they are going to be able to offer $16M per year before the BK lawsuit is settled?

3. This contract dispute seems to be glossed over, but could be a factor for any coach considering multiple schools.

HC’ s today are like Beanie Babies in the past. The ; hype, FOMO, desperation, and delusion pushes the cost 20 times higher than what it should be……

For reference - it was absolutely outrageous that A&M was paying Jimbo $7.5M per year, and Jimbo has a natty to his credit.

Yeah you folks out in College Station know a little something about overpriced coaches. Jimbo pretty much held up the Aggies.

Yep. We learned it wasn’t worth it.

A&M certainly didn’t get a return on investment.

But a good financier understands that eating the sunk costs is better than being married to a bad investment

Jimbo had to have some kind of dirt on the AD at A&M at the time.

what's absurd about expecting to be in playoff contention MOST years, with a deep run occasionally? if the last 25 years has shown us anything, its that the right fit recruits LSU/Louisiana well, and they can win a championship.

the only thing i EXPECT, that LSU hasn't had, is some damn consistency AFTER winning a title.

I think all SEC fanbases are going to have to come to terms with how brutal the modern SEC has become. I would understand your sentiment more if you were a Notre Dame or Ohio State fan where your program can and should cakewalk into the Playoff most years because you're facing inferior competition for 10+ games of the regular season. Next year, the SEC schools that make the conference championship game will have to play 10 SEC programs before they punch that Playoff ticket. I think the worst SEC program this season would probably still be a .500 or better team in any other conference.

We had the A&M Chancellor, John Sharp, get an absolute hardon for Jimbo after he heard LSU was trying to poach him.

Reactionary emotional decision, and not strategic…

These agents wield so much influence and pressure it’s not surprising to see it repeating itself at other schools.

I started coming to terms with it last Saturday. Sankey has screwed us all. The other 3 power conferences baited him into the 9 game SEC schedule and he swallowed it hook line and sinker.

I'd think Lane drafts ~$125,000 a month out of his paycheck right back into our NIL collective. Self preservation comes first when your dad was a millionaire and you've already made more money in your 30s and 40s than you could ever spend in your lifetime. If he signs his extension look for that number to jump to $150-175k. Many of our assistants probably do the same but it's a much lower $ amount obviously.
