but.. BUT... BUT..

UGA vs Aubie

Tenn vs Bamp

whhhaaaaa

I don't understand why they couldn't just keep those only and rotate everybody else. We don't go back to Athens until 2025 because of this shite

I've explained this in prior threads. But here's a visual of that:

Year 1
UGA: Aub./Ala.
KY: Ala./Ark.

Year 2
UGA: Aub./Ark.
KY: Aub./LSU

Year 3
UGA: Aub./LSU
KY: Miss./MSU

Year 4
UGA: Aub./Miss.
KY: TA&M/Ala.

Year 5
UGA: Aub./MSU
KY: Ark./Aub.

Year 6
UGA: Aub./TA&M
KY: LSU/Miss.

Year 7
UGA: Aub./Ala.
KY: MSU/TA&M

UGA games
Ala. - 2
Ark. - 2
Aub. - 7
LSU - 1
Miss. - 1
MSU - 1
TA&M - 1

KY games
Ala. - 2
Ark. - 2
Aub. - 2
LSU - 2
Miss. - 2
MSU - 2
TA&M - 2

&, before you even ask, UGA/Aub. & Tenn./Ala. WILL NOT be played as non-conference games.

Past time... Shoulda happened when Mizzou & aTm were brought in...

Exactly. & a rotational schedule should have been created & implemented at that very moment!

Yes... I think we're the only conference with an 8 game schedule. Get with it or get lost

ACC also plays 8.

I just can't imagine neutral sites for the entire conference in my head. Practically, it doesn't make sense. There aren't stadiums big enough throughout the conference that would geographically make sense.

Stay at 8 (6 division and 2 rotating). If Bama/UT, UGA/AU want to continue their rivalries, they can schedule it as a regular non-conference game when they aren't paired in the rotation.

WRONG. It'll ALWAYS be a conf. game.

You can take your sorry arse back to the Texas 12! Sorry your school has no tradition other than getting skull fricked by OU and Texas in the Big 12 and by Auburn and Alabama in the SEC!!!

Auburn and Georgia have played football against each other longer than anyone in the South and the record is tied. I would rather send Mizzou, Texas A&M, South Carolina, and Arkansas back to the shite holes they came from than lose the DSOR and TSIO.

Not necessarily, if you mandate that one of the conference games be played in a neutral site, as is the case with Arkansas-Texas A&M and Florida-Georgia. It would balance it out for those teams who are otherwise giving up a home SEC game every other year.

Given the number of NFL towns in SEC territory (e.g. New Orleans, Atlanta, Dallas, Houston, Jacksonville, Nashville), it would be difficult at all.

Of course it would be. You named two games, one of which isn't "neutral" at all.

Where in the hell would Florida/Mizzou play? Kentucky/aTm, SCAR/Arky, etc, etc, etc

It's nonsensical and a complete non starter.

We'll go to 9 games of course, but it will be a 5/4 split and it will be fricked. It will be a big competitive advantage/disadvantage every single year.

Yes is the simple answer. OMG half the teams will play 5 away conference games then have 5 at home the next year. big deal...schedules are rarely fair or even anyway.

Also 99% of the country doesn't even know that Auburn-UGA is even a "rivalry" game.

So, make them worse?

Let's say, for example. LSU gets 4 home games, 5 on the road. Draws Mizzou, UGA and Florida from the East. Bama gets 5 home, 4 away. Draws UT, Kentucky and Vandy from the East.

LSU beats Bama, but still loses the West by 1 game. Cool? No big deal?

The whole division will have 4/5 games. There's NO WAY LSU & Ala. will have different schedules.

even if you mandated that the neutral site was a within division game you'd still have an uneven number of games home and away within the division.

but the bigger issue is that schools are unlikely to give up the home gate revenue that comes with playing an increased number of conference games and fewer home games. if a major network wants to make up that financial difference then the SEC might play ball but they haven't been making football decisions to lose money over the last 30 years.

I'm trying to think where those neutral sites for other teams would even be played.... There aren't enough logical places around

Tennessee-South Carolina in Charlotte
LSU-Mississippi State in Jackson? (lol)
Vanderbilt-Ole Miss in Memphis
Kentucky-Missouri in St. Louis
Alabama-Auburn in Birmingham (didn't turn out well the last time)

I'm thinking they're saying neutral site games for same-division opponents.

Well, having an odd number of teams in each division means there's going to have to be at least one cross-divisional game at a neutral site
