I went to a High School that sent the majority of it's students to the barn and I've probably spent more time on that campus than most auburn fans, FWIW. Like I said, there is racism at every school, especially among students. The difference at auburn is, it starts at the top with the administration and athletic department.

I don't think he's a racist, but he's a really shitty head ball coach.

I don't disagree with what you're saying, but bleacher report is just a blog.

May be. I just don't want this forum deliberately drug into the gutter. There's no point in it. I'm sure Auburn forums blister Alabama. Doesn't make it right, either. I know this isn't kindergarten, either, but come on.

Wow, racism has been wiped out in the state of Alabama everywhere but Auburn, you would think there would have been a news conference or something.

There was. On ESPN. You didn't hear?

This is all a load of crap. It had nothing to do with race and everything to do with panic and stupidity. Jacobs has a record to prove that.

The weird thing is, of all of the Auburn people I know, at least 90% were behind Gill as the new coach. And you are right, Jay Jacobs has a proven track record as a barely functioning moron.

Well, what's done is done. You jokers better get behind Chizik today. The meltdown in Auburnland is unbelievable. You don't want to run him through the mud like Alabama did Curry.

Chizik was not my choice, but he is my alma mater's coach so he has all of my support. Frankly, I hope he is the head coach for the next 15-20 years. There are some idiots out there screaming and carrying on, but now is the time for the Auburn family to close ranks and support the man. Looking forward to the A-Day game!

Former Alabama governor and graduate of the University of Alabama George Wallace standing in the door refusing to admit blacks to the University of Alabama.

George was an interesting guy. I don't think deep inside he was much of a racist, but he was a politician with a racist constituency. Towards the end of his career, he actually had a lot of black support. He could walk into a room filled with black people, connect with them, and have them crying like babies towards the end of his political days.

I think his political skills were similar to Bill Clinton's. I'm not comparing their values, just their considerable ability to shovel shite with a sawdust shovel.

+1
Interesting note about Wallace. In his early political career as a circuit (I think) judge, he was considered one of the few white judges that would give blacks a fair hearing. He chose the racist/segregationist path as a politically expedient way to get state office, and he chose on the wrong side of history to his detriment and the state's.

Absolutely. He won the 1982 Democratic runoff over George McMillan because of the black vote. McMillan was much more 'progressive' certainly for Alabama in 1982. Amazing.

Another little side note: People close to Nixon said when George called Tricky Dick to tell him he couldn't give him any political cover in the South, Nixon made his decision to resign.

He also scared the hell out of the Dem party in '72 after he won a couple of primaries up north. He probably would have done better than McGovern, but that's not saying much.
